According to Aaron Portzline, Lindstrom has confirmed that he's headed to MSU.

Yeah, there's a nice writeup on Cayden in the Columbus Dispatch...
“I’m always trying to challenge myself as a player, so I think, for me, playing against older guys (in college) would be beneficial for me, just the ‘compete’ level,” Lindstrom said. “I love to compete against really good players and strong players. I think that builds me as a better player and a more confident player and is a really big reason I chose college (hockey).”

Heard that during the playoffs, didn't want to say anything though in case it wasn't 100% accurate.

The scout I know mentioned the league is expecting another handful of players to head to NCAA.

His older brother is also going to Colorado College next season.
If Ritchie is indeed going to BU then both players involved in that trade last summer will have gone NCAA.

So this is the other side of that NCAA coin.

Tigers have signed a couple more '07 born US players.
Goalie Carter Casey
Forward Kade Stengrim
These seem like pretty good 18 year old players.

Willie D is staying busy and doing his best to ice a competitive team next season. Really can't ask for much more than that.

Yep, absolutely.
The Tigers won't be a push over next year, even without Gavin. If he comes back they will be a force again.

Seems like a missed opportunity as Bryce was available at pick #80 and the Flames decided to take Phillips. The Habs then selected Bryce with pick #81. Oh well, really happy that Bryce was selected.

Welp, the NCAA and CHL have effectively squashed the Tigers two year window for memorial cup runs it would appear. Pretty frustrating to say the least.
Hopefully those Americans will appreciate these players as much as we would have.

I wonder what kind of backlash the WHL might encounter next season. Out here on Vancouver Island, I can tell you that Royals fans are pretty pissed that their two best players will not be on the team this season and they're wondering out loud why they should even attend home games.

Yeah, it's such a weird situation. So many teams being stripped of 19 year old high end talent that should have never happened.
The Tigers have already lost Lindstrom for his 19 year old season. 4th overall NHL draft pick, probably puts up 100+ points if he plays the full season at 19.
99.99999% sure that they are also about to lose Ritchie for his 19 year old season, there is an 80+ point player.
That's bad enough, but now add in 17/18 year old McKenna who is coming off winning CHL player of the year and probably putting up 150 points if the NCAA doesn't wine and dine him with an offer that can't be refused.
Sickening. The Tigers were poised to be the top dog again and would have probably set a franchise attendance record at COOP place building off the momentum from last season and having not only a top team again but the concensus 1st overall in next ywars draft on the team.
They are doing what they can, but bringing in all these US born college committed 16-17 year olds isn't going to make up for what they've lost. A complete disaster.

Hopefully none. It's nothing the WHL has done, this is completely a result of the NCAA making changes. It's unfortunate and it sucks (short term) but don't penalize the WHL for it.

I'm just thinking of ticket sales/attendance, there are tough choices already for people's entertainment dollars in a tough economy and the WHL product is being stripped of some very talented players. I don't think ticket prices are likely to come down, yet the talent is inferior to what was on the ice last season.

Yep. Its not really the WHLs fault, but these teams will pay the price for these players leaving for the NCAA in the way of ticket sales.
Just remember how barns sold out everywhere Bedard went in his draft year. That was about to happen this coming season with McKenna.
