Thing is it wasn't that team friendly - it was a good bet by the Flames.

He signed that contract Jan 8 2020

To that point of his career he had 5 goals and 32 points in 136 GP. He was +3 and averaged 17:05 TOI.

It was a smart bet by Treliving to lock him up but wouldn't say it was extremely team friendly at all at the time. Lots of risk on the Flames end with that contract.

What are the chances Craig chases Isaac Howard?

Very low. He's a small LW

Unfortunately now the reality appears to be thst that ship has sailed. If Anderson did play the Vegas only card after leading Conroy along saying he'd consider contenders yeah that's a bit skeevy on his part but thems the breaks.

Now the return is looking more like single season rental prices which of course will be significantly lower and possibly leaving us with nothing due to the additional risk of having to play him clear until the TDL next season. Did Conroy muff it by not trading him last year before an extension was an option? It's quite possible but can't change the past now.

Rampant fan expectations for a return of gold and myrrh seem to be what's driving most of the panic and anger here. It's our own fault for buying into it in the first place. Member when it was gonna be Mercer and a top 10 pick for Markstrom? Yeah it's that again. So hopefully Rasmus gets traded for something decent soon and we all go home happy. If he's still on the roster to start the season holy guacamole are the takes going to reach surface of the sun white hot. Can't wait.
Yep, exactly. We held the cards last season and some of this season and didn't trade him, It is what it is now and it looks like he is a rental price now, which tends top be a late first, pedestrian prospect and other scrap. At this point just get that and move on, and if possible don't deal with Vegas..

I think you have to make a pitch. He is a top prospect and likely close to NHL ready. Just from a PR perspective, any time you can get the prize helps as well. If the Flames acquired and signed him, he'd probably instantly become our top forward prospect.

One thing these top college guys going to UFA usually want is a fast track to the NHL and very little, if any time in the minors. I think the Flames could make that work, especially if they trade a winger. Even if you don't, I think it could be possible to promise him that. But then you get into the dilemma about the principle of doing that.

The sucky thing is that those dorkturns up north are probably more enticing because they lack depth to the point that there would be no question he could step into a role right away and possibly even get occasional time with those who shall not be mentioned. There seems to be a weak rumour going around that the Oilers are indeed making a pitch to Tampa for negotiation rights.

I'm usually the first to dismiss smaller guys, but Howard is one hell of a hockey player. Plus, he's listed as being 5'11", and 190lbs- not too shabby. If Conny had a chance to acquire him, I would say go for it. Only thing is that he's a LW.

I don't know about that, actually. Cullen Potter produced better as a freshman than Howard did.

Wonder what the price would be for a Lukas Reichel. He feels like a player that can play in the top 9 for a while. I know our left side is jammed up

Lukas Richel. 6’ LHS LW. Don’t we have seven or eight of these already?

It’s the old saying in hockey after all, isn’t it?

‘You build your team from the left wing out’.

IMO, the Flames should look to move at least one LW this year, whether that is Coleman or Zary, for help elsewhere. LD, RW, or C.

It’s kind of insane the redundancy the Flames have accumulated over the years here. I get ‘BPA’ but there is a point of diminishing returns.

Well boys, your wishes have finally been granted.
Leaf's have been blowing up the phones trying to pry Kadri for what feels like 2 years now.
I'm told this morning that Craig is listening (both sides are talking now) AND that Kadri would be open to it.

I know diss is a bit more connected with the Kadri stuff than I am, but this is the first time I've heard he would consider a reunion with T.O.

With that said I cant think of anything I'd even want from Toronto... and would put a very sizable gap in our top 6.
