Seems to have a lot of followers, including Elliotte Friedman.
His dislike for Byram does seem a little personal. He can't be the only player that chirps like that.

As far as chirps go, that’s Tuesday. That’s nothing and I’d bet far worse is said in leagues across the world quite often.
That couldn’t possibly be the sole source of these ‘character issues’?

Fine line between being conceited and having "swagger". Guessing he isn't as good as he thinks he is.

Byram getting traded twice before he is 25 despite being a top 4 pick is somewhat of a red flag.

The real issue with that chirp is how unoriginal it is. Chirping is part of the gamesmanship if sports. And people who are good at it are like artists. Obviously some things a are over the line, but that wasn't even close.

The teams he’s been on already had a top pairing LD. He’d easily be our #2 right off rip. And I think Weegar could unlock an extra tier of potential out of him.

I've heard Colorado has inquired about trading for him back and Buffalo doesn't necessarily want to move him but might have to as the thought is Byram wants more opportunity.
I think his alleged off ice issues are being overblown.

I somehow missed the chirp part coming in late to this thread. I've gone back and cannot easily find it. What did he say he said?

Bowen Byram's durability concerns me moreso than his alleged personality.
Though he seems to be healthy now. There also hasn't been a lot of progression since his sophomore year. I wouldn't expect an explosion of growth. If anything, he's actually a remarkably consistent half-point-per-game player when healthy.

I personally can't find any other source. This one source posted several times claiming negative stuff about him, sometimes directly related to his on-ice abilities and sometimes about his character. He claimed that he interviewed badly with a lot of teams and compared him to Yakupov. Honestly though, more Twitter posts hurts the reliability of the source IMO. It seems unprofessional and more personal to keep drilling him. It's like, who's chirping whom at this point.
As someone else mentioned, the only other real red flag is being a recent 4th OA pick and being traded twice before the age of 25. Players of that pedigree rarely get traded, let alone twice before that age. There are other factors of course that don't need to be about character. On ice play, injury history, and Colorado just wanting a center back.
Requesting a trade out of Buffalo was reported to be about his role on the team, but one Buffalo beat writer said it's because he can't handle losing. It was also reported that his home in Buffalo was cleaned out and emptied before season was even over. He seems too young to be fed up that quickly and unwilling to be the solution.

I do know that as bad as the whole Edmonton Winnipeg and lesser Calgary reputations, Buffalo if by far, the worst team to be drafted by due to their ownership. The Pegulas are well regarded as being the worst and least desired place to be drafted by.

Good summary… but on your last comment, it’s Buffalo, and I’m not sure how much patience players should really be expected to have with that circus at this point.
To me, Kadri being part of the Avalanche during the first couple years that Byram played there alleviates any real character/compete issues. Conroy im pretty sure would have checked in with the forward, and Kadri isn’t the type to hold back if he saw any problems.
I can’t find the story but a few years ago I read a story on Byram and I think it was the coach who was saying that the most difficult part about coaching the kid was that he was so competitive that when he got beat by a guy like McDavid, he couldn’t let it go. I guess being too competitive (JT Miller) can create locker room issues, but I don’t feel it’s a bad thing with the leadership group the flames have and the work ethic they’re preaching.

The only thing that makes sense is in the context of a three way trade

When did "chirp" become such a word on hockey forums? Talking trash was the thing for the longest time. Chirp never had the same ring to it.

I've heard better chirps from a dead bird.
