Posts that don't agree with popular CP opinion are toxic. Posters that aren't aligned are stupid. Media that defers is inaccurate. This board is ultra defensive to any contrary opinion.
I agree with some skepticism around media reports. Even the legitimate folks are only passing on whatever information their source provides. But its the best information we have, and in this case it aligns with the other moves Conroy has made.
Isn't it possible to take in a rumour and then simply start the reply sentence with the word "if"?
"If Conroy was building a return around Hague I don't think we would have liked the deal"
That puts the rumour in the right context.
Assuming the rumour was 100% accurate without knowing if it was in fact true, or what the rest of that deal looks like and flying off the handle is where people get annoyed.
I think that simple nuance chills out most people. Keep in mind that guys like Dino get attacked for being overtly positive as well.
Keep it within the rumble strips and civil conversations will live and breathe.

How many teams trade guys with two years left on their contracts (unless it's for a better player)?
Here are a few from this last year: Farabee(PHI to CGY), Laine(CBJ to MTL), Carlo(BOS to TOR), Gibson(ANA to DET), Coyle(BOS to COL), Mittelstadt(COL to BOS), Jones(CHI to FLA), Miller(VAN to NYR) Cozens(BUF to OTT), Norris(OTT to BUF, Wood(COL to CBJ), F. Gaudreau(MIN to SEA), Laughton(PHI to TOR), Walman(SJS to EDM), Novak(NSH to PIT), Bunting(PIT to NSH), Bjorkstrand(SEA to TBL), Soucy(VAN to NYR), Carrier(NSH to MTL), Fowler(ANA to STL), Jankowski(NSH to CAR), Mrazek(CHI to DET)
Cap Dump: Trouba(NYR to ANA), Kreider(NYR to ANA), Burakovsky(SEA to CHI), Walman(DET to SJS)
For a better player: Roy(VGK to TOR), Stankoven(DAL to CAR), Knight(FLA to CHI), Chytil(NYR to VAN), Necas(CAR to COL), Drury(CAR to COL)
That's not even all of them. Mostly players moving on from teams that are retooling/rebuilding/underperforming. That said, there are plenty of decent players with term that got traded, either for futures or in hockey trades.

Most of these are cap dumps or getting rid of useless players though. And some are stretching "two years", like Fowler - that was more like 1.5 - a pre TDL move, Or Soucy. We were talking about offseason trades with two full tears of service to go.
And some are just GMs making hockey trades - Middelstdat for Coyle was Colorado thinking Coyle was a better bet for the POs.
True, but that's just taking this year. And yes, several of the trades were made at the deadline. I don't see why they can't apply to Andersson at last year's TD. Andersson could've just as easily been a part of a player for player trade, so I'm not sure if they should just be disregarded.
I agree that most teams don't trade players with term for futures and look to compete right away, if that's the point you were trying to make.
Off the top of my head decent players that fit your criteria are: Marino(NJD to UTA), Markstrom(CGY to NJD), Toffoli(MTL to CGY), McDonagh(NSH to TBL), R. Smith(VGK to PIT), Provorov(PHI to CBJ), Granlund(NSH to PIT), Ekholm(NSH to EDM), Chychrun(ARI to OTT).
If I remember correctly the Toffoli, Ekholm, Chychrun, and Granlund deals happened mid-season but with 2+ years left.

The off-season with two full years thing arose because people talked about “this time last year”.

My guess is that Vegas is out, I wouldn’t be surprised if Conroy pulled him off the market.
No need for that.
Just shift gears, trade him for what you can get as a rental. Of course it'll be less than what you could have got if you knew he'd extend, but that ship has sailed, no point dwelling on it. Plus it still won't be a bad return.
I hope he's traded before camp. Everyone knows he's gone at some point this year, clear a spot for him now so the kids to have a job opening to fight for.
Important to note that Korczak's extension starts next year, so this doesn't actually effect anything regarding Andersson being traded there this year.
If Raz goes there, they're going to have to clear cap regardless as they only have a little over a million in space at the moment (with an essentially full roster)

This is not nothing. I wonder if Vegas is out now.
Shouldn't affect anything. Korczak is a #4/5 guy. If you're signing Andersson it's to be as #2 possibly #3 d-man. Andersson is an upgrade on McNabb or Whitecloud, not Korczak.
Doing my best to not wonder what was in these offers as Dreger says above…
But shouldn’t Anderson and family be checking out cities to live in now instead of just saying “Vegas”?
Every city in the nhl has its charms, and at the salaries these professional athletes earn, it buys a pretty great lifestyle for 8 months or so. And they are on the road for half of that meaning that the family has to be happy too!

Does that count Pietrangelo? Because his situation sounds legitimately career ending.
