If he was a better goalie he would have suggested that much sooner, and it would have stopped Katzie from dropping by to show off his new waterproof couch. Knobby promised me lots more ice time next season so I’m happy about that. I spoke with BooBoo yesterday. He said that 4 years was the shortest contract offer that he could get. He was happy to get more money than Darnell, and he didn’t have to fight Leon or date Darnell’s sister either! Win win I guess.

I’m sure looking forward to seeing all of the new stars that Stan promised me when he flew to Toronto (home of the leafs!). Note to file: I have to remember to put that picture of me and Austin into my hope chest! It will be great to see Connor (no relation to me haha!) Brown, wormy Perry, arvidsson, and Klingsberg again! Great teammates all!

Well Diary, signing off here as I have to grab a few beers at the corner store. It normally takes a few hours to get everyone’s pictures taken. I try to look glum and sad but it has yet to deter anyone.

Will I sign tomorrow? I told everyone it was win win win and I’d be happy to re-sign. I can’t wait to see all of the help that Stan got me today!

Mavi Diary - Day 2

Dear Diary. Well, it’s a happy and sad day. Life’s like that. Got the news that wormy fell for the oldest trick in the book; the old GM switcheroo. He never should’ve fallen for “it’s Ken Holland, GM, and I’d like to talk about your new contract.” Ken and Wormy are about the same age (old!) so both probably have each others old contact info; old people never update their blackberries or whatever they are called.

I’m not as sad as I might be though for a couple of reasons. Now I don’t have to hold back or pretend I’m injured so that I don’t hit bonuses and put us over the cap. Also, wormy did the old man sprawl so I’m looking forward to Leon and I getting some space back. I’m hoping that Leon doesn’t know yet as I’d kinda like to get first dibs on whatever wormy left behind. That’s another thing; for a guy who identifies as a worm, he sure didn’t appreciate my dig in motivation speeches. And he kept pretending not to hear me inspiring the team because he would keep talking. So not very sad. Also more money for me!

Speaking of money, BFF Stan signed the only player who falls down without contact more than me! I spoke with “Andrew” on the phone. He phoned me! The nerve of some people. He said that he was looking forward to seeing some power play time but I set him straight on that. I told him that as a conn smythe winner, I only don’t play in the last 5 1/2 minutes of the deciding game. He mentioned something about there isn’t “any I in team” but I don’t know what school he went to because (and I told him straight up) that there was “me” in team and that was all that “I” needed. Also note to file: I wonder when Gary B and the nhl will be scheduling the drop off and photos of the conn smythe? I can’t be the only person in history that doesn’t have pics of himself with it.

Stan also said that he got me a laser for free agents day. I said great but didn’t mean it because I already have a great shot. He said no he signed Curtis laser and I think it’s disrespectful to me to have your name and nickname together. Honestly, should my name be Connor the best player in the world who makes the second most money, or Leon makes the most money but second best player in the world? See what I mean? His name is probably bob smith but Curtis laser for the fans. No one minds a little showmanship but come on; I’ll ask Leon to give him a welcome to oilers skate to skate kick.

Well diary I have to get back to my painting; someone stupidly dropped off red roses (I think it’s more Katzie red roses shenanigans) and I have to remove the colour. It’s almost too much choice to decide to make them black or white, but they have to blend into my house’s colour scheme. Painted them black btw.

I don’t think I’ll sign today; good buddies Mitch and Austin are taking me to the ice capades in Vegas! I know right! Clever idea for Mitch to get us season passes for that.

Good. Do it. I’m fully confident this guy will never be a consistent starter with this hanging over his head. He already does more weird goalie routines than any goalie who’s ever lived. The guy needs 168 different things to do between plays in order to stay focused on the game. He’s going to be EASILY rattled by this forever.

These clowns sucked for a decade. They kept getting (and ruining) 1st overall picks. They should have been relegated to the AHL. The oilers find a was to F up their cap situation every year. Then they resort to women abusers, that no one else will take, to fill out their roster. Most poorly run organization ever. Looking at that Oilers lineup it just doesn't look that good at all. I'd say its hilariously no good. But we know the bottom line with the Oilers is that its Connor and Pissy dragging that team to the playoffs. But when they run out of gas, the Oilers revert to expansion team bad.


A first line of Hopkins, McDavid and Hyman.


Hyman is 33 and its an old 33, and he had a massive drop in goals and points over the year before.
Hopkins is 32 and dropped about 20 points from the year before
Mcdavid holding off on signing a contract could be a motivator for him to play his game to a league max contract or to be traded.


Magipane - Draisaitl- Podkolzin


AM isn't exactly a playmaker, nor is Draisaitl. AM is a third liner and trying to fit him into top 6 minutes could backfire. Podkolzin is nothing special


Frederic, Henrique and Savoie
Frederic got paid. He was decent in Boston, but looked terrible in Edmonton. Could he be another Dustin Penner? Henrique is 36, and he's not suited to a 3rd line checking role, and he looks to be old and slow. Savoie - the juries out on him, but it feels like 3rd line time would be a waste of time for him.


Janmark Philp, Kapanen


Looks like a terrible 4th line


Their defence is overpaid thanks to Nurse and Bouchard. Their most reponsible defenseman in Ekholm is also older then grit


Goaltending


Skinner has yet to prove that he's a top half of the league starting goalie.


They've got nothing coming up outside of Savoie to get excited about. God forbid that Connor or Leon go down with injuries.


The lucky thing for the Oilers is that the pacific division is still relatively weak. But I expect that LV is going to be stronger, and the Kings are going to make a push. The Flames probably over achieved last year, and Vancouver is going to be red hot trash.


But if I was an Oilers fan, I'd be freaking out man.
