Reschny's my favourite pick out of the draft and I can't believe the Flames got him, but I'm getting more excited about Potter as I read into him.

He was a first rounder, but picking Potter feels a little bit like when the Flames drafted Gaudreau... he's going to take a while to develop, but his speed, competitiveness and brain quickness could turn him into the type of get you out of your seats, puck carrying star that the Flames haven't had for a while.

I'd still put him in the back half of the top 10 of prospects, but he's the type of player that could rise quickly. His numbers might really pop next year.

And skating is pretty useful asset in hockey lol

The thing I noticed in the clips of him is his physicality. He’s not a wilting violet nor a timid guy out there. He throws body when he can. What makes this so impressive is he’s a 17 year old kid playimg in the NCAA, not the ushl. He’s being decidedly physical against people far more physically developed. Now if he can train effectively I don’t see why he couldn’t be a gritty energy pp puck transporter. I see a more offensive and less reckless Paul Byron. That’s a top 9 guy maybe even top six.

I’m hoping he can show more offense this season. I noticed on some clips that he doesn’t get to better areas for higher danger chances and can be a bit perimeter situated with some of his decisions.

All in all, I’m really liking the pick for values sake and what he could be. His pedigree is quite cool as well.
