Can we just stop calling this trade prosposal 'Dreger's whopper'? It kind of puts some unsavoury images into my mind.

this feels like it will be a huge distraction if it drags into the season.

Would you prefer to call it Dreger's big one?

Necas also refused to go to Winnipeg and Buffalo when there was talk of an Ehlers swap with the Canes a couple years ago. Not sure what Buffalo was offering but he wouldn’t sign there. Doesn’t mean he says no to Calgary but I think it is tougher.

Bringing in those 2 players though it would be hard to not see this team as a playoff one vs a bottom 10/bubble team
Good points, but Necas as far as I’m aware has been saying for years he wants to playing C and more ice time. It sounds like he wants to be at the top of the food chain.

If that’s the case there are only so many spots from a roster and financial standpoint. He may look favourably on Calgary.

I'm glad Miller and Hague weren't the return.....I prefer a single 1st rounder to them TBH.

I think the Flames leaked it to Dreger to put pressure on Rasmus. Let's face it, they had a good relationship and this is inevitably putting a strain on the relationship to somehow leak only one team interests him for signing an extension. It could be holding up from other things happening. Public opinion needs to turn on him for him to open his options more.

We again have no idea what the whopper of an offer is. To me that would be multiple picks, to posters like JH he wants mid tier prospects. Some posters want player for player.

The interesting piece if what was the package for K'andre. If the threat of an offersheet swayed the Rangers the Flames are likely not attaching any picks to their trade offers.

Knock it off. That's not how I feel. This is why people argue with you.
I would gladly take multiple 1sts.
Why are you trying to start fights out of the blue and for no reason.

Dreger did say it wasn’t a player return or something to that effect

Dreger said "he wouldn't go to LA" ... as in "he wouldn't extend there" and not as in "LA is on his 6 team NTC and wouldn't waive", right?

Craig might have to simply shift to selling him to the highest bidder as a 1 year rental at some point. Having an extension in place would be awesome, but at the end of the day, Ras has every right to decide where he wants to sign and where he doesn't.

When we discussed Sillinger and I asked why you keep adding mid tier players like that, you said those are the ones you like in a package for RA.

It's good to see someone calling that out in this thread. So many people dogpile on trade proposals saying that teams can horde centers and "just play them on the wings".

A lot of these players are not interested in converting positions and they are definitely not interested in lowered career earnings. Once these players get some control on their careers they are likely to push back against this type of management and find opportunities where they can get a shot to be the #1C and then get paid accordingly.

No that's not what I said. You can go back and quote me if you want.
I'm open to packages that include different types of assets including combinations of young players, prospects and high picks.

So I believe I was keen on a deal involving something like Sillinger+1st.

Maybe I misread what you said that you are ok with mid tier players.

I mean if the best we can muster is Hauge and 1st id take Sillinger. Although he might have some demons here in Calgary.
