It all looks pretty and is probably needed, but the word "luxury" is used 4 times in that press release. This will be for visitors and wealthy Calgarians, certainly not for the people of Victoria Park, however few are left. The Alpha House is one block West on 1st street - for how long, I wonder...

Aren't all hotels for visitors?
I guess there's the charge by hour motel angle ....

I'm guessing because the floor to floor of residential towers is typically smaller than commercial, it will still be shorter than Brookfield.

Honestly, I think it is probably too tall for that area. Looks cool though.

I’m sure those towers will be more apartments than hotel rooms. It does look a little tall for that area, guess we’ll see what actually gets built.

The Calgary Tower looks out of place.

I guess we'll know where to start pulling fire alarms and running sirens outside during the Flames cup run in June 2030.

This is part of the reason why cities invest in arenas... if these things get built, Calgary considerably increases its tax base on those properties and will see a number of tax generating spin-off infill developments over time.
These places also may be pricey, but I suspect the ground level connections should work well with the new arena. Gonna be a pretty cool place to visit.

Has there been any chatter as to what will happen to the area where the Dome is once it's demolished? I had assumed they'd just do something like convert it to parking and/or expand the stampede grounds area, but couldn't find any reading material on that.

Its zoned for an Outdoor Water Park. They're planning on re-using the roof as a slide.

Admit it. You'd want to try it.

I thought I read somewhere that they'd be donating the roof to a titan who lives in the mountains so he can use it as a functioning saddle.

Event area for stampede - future stampede related building. There was rumours of agriculture related education (olds college style) at some point but unknown if that still in the plans.

Yeah, that was the original plan until he found out it was falling apart!
