I am perfectly fine with that. No more personal attacks. We might not agree on things but it never has to be personal. I would love to just discuss hockey. A fresh start. I apologize as well.

Byram will be a Blue when we wake up. Army sounded aggressive today. He’s looking to make a big move.

I don’t know but I did hear he would be happy to go to Calgary but I don’t know if it would be his preference. It is close to home for him so there’s that.

Meh if he does that is fine. With that said I felt the leafs were far more of a logical destination for Mangiapane. Treliving connection, hometown, need on the team etx

They filled their tiny left shot winger with the trade with Utah. I thought he maybe end up in Carolina or something in a 1 year deal.

I can’t believe I found a eklund post tho.

He’s pretty bad.

I guess the question is what do you have to give up to get him.

Seems like he has a decent resume. Definitely the age range we’re looking at. Guessing an upgrade over Bean and Miromanov.

I would imagine Buffalo is looking at what the Rangers just got for K'Andre Miller as a guideline for what they'd want to get for Byram: 1st+2nd+top D prospect.

Although if Buffalo is looking for "now" pieces as rumored that might change the equation a bit. Either way, I wouldn't want CGY to give up anything of significance for a guy whose draft pedigree vastly surpasses his actual NHL results to date.

What would you do. They want to get tougher. Farabee, solo and a 3rd.

I think part of the hold up could be about contract. Any team that acquires him is going to want to know that they can sign him and that the contract demands aren't excessive.

He can be a UFA in 2 years if he insists on only signing for 2 years. You probably want to bridge a player like him, but it's kind of at the point where you can't bridge him and risk having him walk for nothing. He probably either wants the bag on a long term deal, or a short term deal that makes him a free agent. I just don't think anything else would make sense from his perspective.

If you're giving up a lot in a trade for him, you need to know that you are going to have him for a long time and that the terms aren't outrageous.

Really hope this gets done, Byram and Bahl would solidify our ld for years to come. I scooped Byram in one of my fantasy leagues last year and ended up watching him quite a bit, he is a very smart player. Has potential to be more impactful than say, Hanifan was for us. Do not get the Hamonic comparison someone made at all.

I don't think the chirping is the issue so much as the conceited attitude. You're going to be nobody and I'm going to be a star. I can take the first part of that and write it off as chirping, but the second part speaks to character in general. It's not horrible, like oh my god this guy is worse than Hitler, but it would make me wonder if he carries that same attitude among his peers and not just his opponents.

Having said that, anyone can say anything they want on social media. It seems like this Western Scout dude has a real axe to grind with Byram specifically. He has several negative posts about him to the point that I would have to question whether he just hates the guy and wants to disparage him for personal reasons. Always take social media and particularly random Twitter stuff with a grain of salt.

His contract looks like ass now.

Byram was doomed in Colorado. They had Toews and Girard on the left side. He didn't fit.

I think he fits in Calgary and will be really good here.

That proposal would be easily beaten.

Farabee is a cap dump, Solo needs to go through waivers, and the 3rd is the best part of the trade.

You have many, many teams after him (leave the argument that there shouldn't be at the door, it is what it is).

The winning bid will be a lot more than spare parts you don't mind getting rid of.

yeah, you're not getting Byram for these spare parts. It'll need at least one piece that really hurts ... whether that's a player like Zary or a prospect like Mews. I don't want to give up either, but you have to give in order to get. I love Mews, but we are so stacked at RHD that he might be the piece you can sacrifice. We have Weegar until 2031, and Parekh will be a top 4 guy in no time. Pachal is a decent stop gap until, hopefully, Brzustewicz is ready. So even though Mews is a fine prospect, it might make sense to deal from a position of strength here.

In theory, trading Andersson should recoup the future assets we'd give up for Byram. I think if, bottom line, we replace Andersson with Byram (and maybe a slight plus) on a long-term deal, we'll have done pretty well.

Wonder if there is a bigger package at play here. Would be very intriguing if flames had Andersson in this deal too and got back a helenius or something. A big trade could solve a lot of issue at once

The issue is Rasmus would have to waive to go there. I think we all assume Buffalo would be on his NTC. So not just he won't extend. But he won't even accept a trade there.

Yeah this is how I feel.

He'd be a good add, if the price was cheap.

I don't want to pay anything close to what the Canes just paid for Miller.

If it's a Farabee, Pospisil, Sharagovich type as a big piece, then I'm down.

It would be nice if one of our LHD in the system would step up so the Flames don't have to spend potentially multiple assets on a guy like Byram.

Solovyov, Kuznetsov, Grushnikov and Poirier, I'm looking at you. Especially Poirier who is a similar style Dman to a guy like Byram.

I much rather move Mews than Zary. I doubt anyone would disagree?
