Pretty stupid post on Bluesky though which is comparing different fiscal periods. Four months ago, the $5B deficit mentioned is with regards to the budget for fiscal year 2025-2026 and takes into account expected lower oil prices and higher costs due to tariff uncertainty.
The $8B surplus is for fiscal year 2024-2025 and is result of higher than expected oil prices and record levels of oil production.
The forecasted surplus for 2024-2025 was $5.8B and came in just over $8B.

Yup. You’ll now have to pay $110 per dose according to CBC. Just more stupid, insane bulls*** from this dumbass government.

This will totally reduce our healthcare costs and improve the lives of the vulnerable that they will move heaven and earth to protect. Just not this, because don't you know, we have a massive deficit in this province and it's all Justin's fault that we can't pump more than 3 barrels of crude a year. The best we can do is fund a propaganda department, so that'll have to keep you safe for now.

I’m curious how many Albertans and CP’rs will pay for their vaccinations. My wife and I will as we prepare for travel. I believe that vaccinations will drop precipitously.

I imagine today’s celebrations will annoy the f*** out of Smith and her separatist a**hole buddies.
Happy Canada Day, everyone!

Smith is not a separatist, but she is using them.

They think they are. Credit to Smith and the people telling her what to do, that’s the best part of the grift.

Queensland’s Burton coal mine could shut leaving hundreds without work
A coal mine employing hundreds of workers is on the brink of closure, and could “pause” production within months if additional cash or equity is not sourced.

I hope so. I'm very concerned about counting on Smith to outsmart anyone as part of the plan for a safe and prosperous future.

Heard an Government of Alberta ad this morning on the radio promoting Alberta Next, saying that Ottawa is attacking Alberta. No examples provided, of course. I ####ing hate this rhetoric. Where/how am I being attacked? I ####ing hate this MAGA-style misinformative #### in our province.

Smith learned years ago you can manipulate the public by straight up lying to them in the media, and no one will fact check and call you out, particularly if you can blame others for your own repeated stupid choices. It was so successful a strategy it made her premier. It should be no surprise she continues to do what works for her.
The real fault lies with the voters for being so easily fooled, and seeming to reveal in the ignorance like pigs rolling in their own feces.

Golfed with two older gents yesterday, we decided to have a beer after the round. I cheers'd and said "Well, happy Canada day fellas" and one said "I don't like Canada so Happy Alberta Day"
We're sitting outside, on a patio, in the sun, and you have to complain about Ottawa? C'mon man grow up

CBC interviewed some jackass at the Edmonton Canada Day celebrations who said that he doesn’t mind partying with everyone on July 1st, but as soon as July 2nd hits he’d vote to separate if they held a referendum on that day. What a f***ing loser.
