Exactly. "Think" not "I can confirm" These guys will spin things for clicks Paulie. Like the original title, LeBrun hears the Flames and Vegas have talked, big deal, lots of other people got that. So he adds the whole wanting to sign only in Vegas bs for more clicks and then the GM comes out today and debunks it. It makes for great attention and that is their job. Go back and listen to back episodes of 32 thoughts and see how Friedman words things for clicks that 99% never come to fruition. Do teams do him favours and throw him info first sometimes before they break it? Sure, but not very often. If you think the hangup in an Andersson trade was Hague have at it but it doesn't sound very realistic when you think about it now does it?

He did call us re signing Hanley last night too.

Great, he hits sometimes and sometimes he doesn't. When an insider says "I believe" or "my thoughts are" or not the confirm word they are spitballing for hits. I am not saying Friedman isn't reliable, I am saying he speculates a lot and he has a way of doing it that makes people believe it is more than it is. That's his job.

Ehhh....Friedman is a 'good' source, but the NHL is very tight-lipped, he only tells what he's allowed to tell or his sources dry up and then his employment becomes tenuous.
Frankly, I dont really believe anyone until its official. I think the last real NHL 'insider' was Bob Mackenzie and he saw the writing on the wall where everyone wanted everything kept tight so he could know things but he couldnt say them so he called it.

I would assume that the Flames felt that Hague has enough tools that he would have grown in Calgary's organization. From that standpoint, it does make sense.
From a different standpoint, maybe Hague was simply the best of what scraps Vegas was willing to kick-in on the Rasmus trade (assuming the 1st was in the deal, which I assume it was), much like Miromanov was. Either way, if that was his contract demands, then the Flames would have been paying him based on potential. I guess we will see how Hague develops in Nashville - although they have had a lot of changes, they have been known as being a defencemen factory. Maybe we will be kicking ourselves in hindsight, or maybe we will be relieved that we dodged a bullet.
I am all for just taking picks and prospects - and dead cap for a sweetener. I would rather the prospects be given a chance to percolate through and get some reps in at the NHL level. Regardless of what people like to say, the NHL is indeed a development league - players develop all the time at the NHL level, especially when given enough rope. This team needs these young players to push through, and I think they should get some ice to help them along.
I am sure that the Andersson situation will eventually be resolved at some point this off-season. Whether it is in days, weeks or by September, I would be surprised if Andersson is still around for the start of camp.

TBH id love for it to be a lie. I’d like to think Hague isn’t the type of player Conroy id looking for in return for Andersson. He was just traded for 4th liners.

I'm going to go with Tampa Bay as a sleeper pick on where Ras ends up. While most of the hockey world has crowned the Florida Panthers as the King of the NHL, I don't think Tampa is quite ready to accept that. I think they're going to want to add to their already strong team and I think they could definitely use Ras on the right side.

Posts that don't agree with popular CP opinion are toxic. Posters that aren't aligned are stupid. Media that defers is inaccurate. This board is ultra defensive to any contrary opinion.
I agree with some skepticism around media reports. Even the legitimate folks are only passing on whatever information their source provides. But its the best information we have, and in this case it aligns with the other moves Conroy has made.

Could be they couldn’t agree on a contract because Conroy’s offer wouldn’t get anywhere near the levels of the Nashville contract.

He's another Bahl - wouldn't be a bad addition. Obviously, Vegas would have to give more, but Hague could easily have been a reasonable piece of the return.

Key words there are "I think". That isn't a statement of fact, it's speculation. Some of you need to learn the difference.

At this point, I don't think a Rasmus trade gets done this summer. I think everyone should take a break and let things play out for now. It's been a tense past 7 days.

If there was an additional 1st as part of the package that would make it a lot different. If Hague was a key piece that makes sense since this team needs LD and there is belief he could likely be carried by Weegar in the top 4. The 27 1st is likely the jewel of the deal hit without Hague I am not sure what other pieces the Knights want to offer?
26 and 27 2nds would be enough in addition to the 27 1st. I just hate getting later picks when I would want a 26 1st as part of the return.

The yokels have had too much time to sharpen their pitchforks already. Another couple months and this could very well go the route of Wicker Man/Children of the Corn.

Fine to take a break because there isn’t much more to say, but you don’t think a trade will get done this summer? We are 12 hours in.

You've been here long enough AC.
Reason and logic have no room in these walls.
Having been behind the curtain just briefly, fans don't know 5% of what's going on and by the time we do it's days or on a day like this, hours old.
And yes the media expects to be part of this process to assist GMs or agents or both. Established media can do that, but so many half baked theorists who guess and get something right and try and use that credibility with the next rumor,.
