This. The smart love is to look for teams that are getting better or are deep with talent but need that superstar to become a powerhouse. Dallas comes to mind but they are capped out for the foreseeable future.

Not just that - since the 2020 Draft - the only Oilers draft pick that has played EVEN A SINGLE GAME in the NHL is Holloway.

I posted this in the Boeser thread, but I thought it would be a good fit here as well.
According to an insider on HFOil, Bowman was 100% confident that Boeser was signing with the Oilers, and the Canucks completely blindsided them. They moved Arvidsson this morning for this, and now they’ve lost Perry, Brown, Arvidsson and Kane with no replacements.

McDavid has to be looking at the developments today and thinking that the Oilers window has closed shut. They've lost all their depth, have nothing in the pipeline and still haven't fixed their biggest problem - goaltending. He is an idiot if he signs with them.
