So it’s the Hanifin situation all over again. Granting the player space because they think they can maximize return by getting it to go with an extension, when all that really does is turn the table and effectively give the player a full-NTC which doesn’t actually improve trade value.
Just trade him as a player with 50% retained on a 1-year contract and be done with it.

You’d think there is another team besides Vegas that he would consider extending with. I’d hope he’d work with us on that.
Otherwise yeah, temper the expectations and offer him at 50% with no extension and maybe a team will bring him in and try to sell him on extending. Who knows - maybe some teams are offering more for him as a rental than what Vegas is on an extension.
Misread on the situation by conroy for sure. Wish this would have been discussed at deadline (maybe it was). But he’s really putting us in a bad spot by limiting the number of teams he will consider extending with.

Shades of Hanifin for sure.
6 team no trade list, yea not bad on paper right?
Sadly he can nix almost any other deal because his value only remains high "IF" he extends with the team trading for him.
The later part of that sentence is what's hurt so far.
Shame, I'm trying to see what kind of offer it was but details are pretty tight lipped.
It was Holland though, so probably something small like Byfield and Clarke for Rasmus.

I feel like a whopper of a deal for Andersson would have been real good coming from Holland…
Should of sold Andersson at the deadline

Seems exactly like Hanifin, by refusing to extend.
He has expanded his NTC, curious on how many teams he is open to... (2 or 3)
Should be interesting to see how this plays out.

Taking a while to get to 5000

I’ll only go to these 16 teams.
But not those 15

No one is arguing in that fashion. We're citing a very specific case where things didn't seemingly work out great for the team, because the value extracted from an asset was lower than what other players that were fairly comparable returned.

California has one of the highest tax rates, and worst affordability issues in all of the league. Also the population of the area is a massive 'no' from me, I don't like cities/areas with that level of population.
...not sure how that reveals my nature? Certainly didn't mean to offend my favourite Panthers fan, but it's just not a spot I'd choose if I was in Andersson's situation.

If the offers are real garbage then just pull the Cammalleri and cost Andersson a contract year.

Super unfortunate. Guessing its Vegas or Florida and that's it.

Don’t really blame Rasmus since it’s the next 9 years of his life… but still annoying.

As a very passionate Flames fan like we all are, this hurts me.
Can the Kings owner not invite Rasmus and his family to LA on their private jet and show them LA life for a couple days......Happens in the NBA all the time....I mean, everyone wants to be in LA.......

35.. almost 36 year old Drew Doughty? You think that is the reason why someone wouldn't want to sign and be there for 9 years?

I’m resigned to a 2nd, 3rd and B prospect at the deadline. Anything more and I’ll consider it a win.

Well dammit it may hurt the return of our biggest trade piece this year, but at least we've improved the culture in the room.

I still think this get's resolved in July, with Ras getting traded with an extension. If not, then I guess it might be a deadline deal for a rental. I am not so sure those values are all that different. Low first and a prospect, so maybe the quality of the prospect will differ? Hard to say, but things change. Even the Hanifan scenario. Didn't he want to sign with TB only at one point?

Wonder if the “whopper” was something like Clarke and Greentree

Trying to figure out what an LA offer could have included.
Their prospect cupboard isn't what it was.
I'm guessing they were offering Turcotte for sure (yuck) but perhaps something involving Greentree was on the table? That's the name that is most interesting to me.
