No one is suggesting we dress Hertl a single game.

Andersson has more value than Hertl, so what’s the point?

His Salary is $8.137M but there is already $1.387M of retention from the Sharks.

So any future team that acquires him it is $6.75M cap hit and salary owed.

Not sure you get a huge return but it's not negative for sure.

Hertl and a 1st would be a decent return. Doubt the Flames are on his 3 team trade list though so he would somehow have to agree to the trade, which seems highly unlikely.

Whether we traded Anderson yesterday, last week, last month, last TDL or half way through his contract, he always has and always will have the power of where he signs. That seems to be something those that are lamenting the lack of trade so far seem to have forgotten.

I still expect it to be done in the first week of July, when he can sign a new extension.

He has? Where? When? I don’t think I’ve heard him say that once, let as lone several.

He has taken players back in trades and if he has said he only wants picks and prospects, he only makes executing trades more difficult for himself.

Friedman said early in the week Vegas doesn’t want to trade Hertl. Doesn’t mean it can’t happen but, take that for what it’s worth.

I still wonder about Carolina, Utah, or Columbus. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with Ekblad today/tomorrow. Once that shoe drops, teams that lose out may get more aggressive.

Doubt it.

The league is starved for second line C’s. If there’s an opportunity for the Flames to trade Andersson for Hertl, then flip Hertl for picks/prospects, that is an option they should absolutely consider.

Hertl has a three team trade list anyways. Don’t think there is much to worry about

The league is so starved for Hertl that the only team that will take him is the Flames? Why not bypass us and just go and get him if he is in such demand? Vegas will only trade him to us?

This whole ‘flip players’ idea reads like nonsense. Even Kuzy got almost a full year before he was moved. Flipping doesn’t seem to be how the Flames operate, even if there was a market for this ‘flippable’ player.’

I agree it is unlikely but you’re excluding what the Flames have to offer. If Vegas wants a RHS D who can play in their top 4 at ~$2M (let’s assume salary retained), what are their options outside of Andersson? Who’s better?

We know Vegas is interested and I’m fairly sure they’re still contemplating ways to get it done. If Pietriangelo is out for the year, they’ll need a top 4 RH D.

The complication would come from Hertl. Who are those other 3 teams, would they want Hertl, do they have the pieces the Flames want.

I think you’re right that this doesn’t happen but I don’t think it is for the same reasons.

If Vegas wants Ras they better find a way to obtain the things CC wants. The Hague trade was a bad start.

And they should pay the ‘extension in place’ premium because they are in division and we want them to sink in the standing to maximize the 1st they are giving us next year.

But more likely Vegas has moved on. I don’t think that team messes around

This is screaming a very late first round pick and B level prospect….. CC missed the boat for maximum return.

Just wait it out, no one was expecting the return that we received for Lindy.

Give Conroy the benefit of the doubt here, I don't think that the top RHD on the market is going to bring back sub par value.

They all do. Remember what the Flames got for Hanifin?
A first and a lower pick or B prospect is a standard package for a decent dman

If it’s not a chance at a 1C (either through pick or prospect) Flames should just sign him.

All this ‘sell, sell, sell before he reverts to a pumpkin’ talk is nonsense. What are we doing here? Building a contention culture by moving your fiercest competitors (lots of talk about moving Coleman and Kadri)?

Other than foot speed after 35, we should have no concerns about Ras.

If you really want to trade him, then if the narrative around Ras was ‘Flames working on signing him’ then I bet the offers would be better. We’ve painted ourselves into a corner by publicly saying that won’t happen.
