Pawn shops and pay day loan outlets working overtime in Edmonton next couple weeks.

They are legit terrible at drafting. My favorite comments were from Pronman who said he doesn't think they drafted any NHL prospects.

This is why this is not a team to respect. They aren't good at building a team. They just won a lotto and got McDavid. That's it and that's all.

AFTER already failing at cashing in on the lotto despite having won it 3 times previously...

You have to think McDavid and his inner circle are taking a good look at what the future of that organization looks like as it's going to be pretty bleak in a few years as you can only plug so many holes via free agency. They don't even have promising prospects to fill their bottom 6. It's just such a mess.

I think he signs a 2-3 year deal
That’s likely the window to win and still gives him the option of walking during the peak of his career

Oh I was looking for this file the other day. I was the one who took this photo.

I swear I didn't photoshop it. The sign has literally been changed.

And that was after already drafting 1st overall three times in a two years prior. From 2010-2016 the Oilers drafted 1st, 1st, 1st, 7th, 3rd, 1st, and 4th. That's an average drafting position of 2.5 over seven seasons. The Flames have drafted inside the top 5 once, one time.

The Score and Darren Dreger are reporting that the Dallas Stars have offered Glue Gun the head coaching position.

Excellent. Teams keep poaching their team and they have no ability to get better.

It’s not like the power play will change. It will still be play the glitter twins for 2 minutes.

On the other hand, maybe Dallas thinks that the only way to beat them is to mimic them.

i took my son to ball hockey a couple weekends ago and of course i was wearing my panthers t-shirt. the best was his coach's wife was wearing a 'pissy' shirt. she wouldn't look at me or say a word... too funny.

fast forward to this evening and of course i have to wear a panthers t-shirt.... but not just any shirt... "canada" panthers!!! so canada where it says florida/panthers.
we walk into the change room and the coach's wife takes one look at us (my son was wearing his panthers tee also) and just storms out of the change room - ha! ha! grow up you loser!!

the great part was while i was watching the game a guy said to me, "i LOVE your shirt!!! canada panthers is fantastic!! the only way to improve your shirt would be if it had a flames logo on it!"
i immediately pull out my phone to show him the flames case on it... it's like we were immediate best friends - ha! ha!

the universal truth.... e=ng!

I think so, but even a small decline in his play will be fatal for the Oilers.

Time the Avenger.

The signing of that contract will cause glorious panic in Edmonton. It immediately tells the story of what’s going to happen.

I think all that matters to him is a cup. Nothing else (except salary lol). I don’t think loyalty, buddies, city, wife’s business etc have anything to do with it. Thinking he signs with the team that in mind has the clearest path to a cup. Maybe it’s EDM after all but you have to think he’s looking elsewhere.

The thing about that is, whichever team he was to join, would immediately become the cup favourites.

If I am him, I'm looking at 10 years of mostly mis-management while I've been there, no cups, the oldest team in the league, no goalie, and absolutely no prospects... literally anywhere else I go, it is a better situation.
