Why don’t we just send him to Florida and get it over with. Florida gets another time to run it back at 50% retained.

It's why he should have been moved last draft.
Hanifin showed you can't wait until there is 1 year left to move these guys if you want full value.

Florida has their 1st in 2028. Granted thats a ways out, but I think would have to be included.

My opinion right now is this has to be completed this Summer (and ideally as teams sort their rosters out in the next 2 days).
Learn from the Hanifin situation, and put those learnings into action.

That’s silly.
Offers with an extension > offers with two years remaining > offers with one year remaining > offers with 1-2 months remaining.
Saying you should take the second best option with no chance at the first to avoid risking the third best option isn’t getting “full value.”

Kind of why teams tear it down. To avoid a situation like this. He wants to win. We are half tearing it down for the future. Those 2 things don’t align.
They need to get ahead of this with Coleman as well.
It’s not all about getting the best pick in 26. It’s protecting our team and extracting the best value for these guys so we the sssets to do things.

Yup this is looking like a bit of a fumble IMO. Flames have indirectly limited their own market by waiting and they're going to have a tough time recouping full value. Letting it drag out into the season would be even worse.

Hopefully they just rip the band aid sooner than later and just move on. Forget returns. Just move him.

It’s not silly. Andersson even without retention gets us the Dobson return had we traded him last year.
Now we lost all our leverage because teams want him extended.

So who is he realistically interested in signing with? Dallas? Vegas? Florida?

Disagree.
I think in many cases Offers with 2 years remaining > offers with an extension.
Because when there are 2 years remaining you still have an entire market to trade the player to, the thought of "will he extend" isn't as important because you had 2 years of the player.
The problem is once an extension enters the discussion then teams want an assurance he will re-sign and it almost gives the player a full NTC.
The biggest return for Andersson would have been at the 2024 Draft with 50% retention, you would have had a huge bidding war for 2 seasons of Andersson at $2.275M

In the scenario where Andersson doesn't get traded going into the season. I wonder if playing Andersson with Weegar would boost his value. Weegar made Hanley, Bean and Miromanov look like top 4D. We also have a potential long term pairing in Bahl - Parekh, that can grow together for the next 6 years.

Just trade him for a 7th at this point, calgarypuck has been waiting for over 72 hours now.

Maybe GMCC can learn from the Islanders.
Dobson was traded quickly with no press fan fare. That deal went from murmurs of a trade to completed in no time.
We seem to get caught up in this Rachel and Ross scenario repeatedly (Marksrom) because someone is talking too much/leaking.
It would be better if the only news was 'we are working on a contract extension at this time. No player is untouchable for a team that missed the playoffs again, but we are not involved in any trade discussions.'

... and that was far enough from the 25 draft that you might have got your Misa pick.

This could be the cost of trying to squeak into the playoffs and missing. I get why they didn’t pull the trigger at the deadline but will see how much it diminishes his trade value. At least they have the new CBA to put some pressure on. It wouldn’t totally be crazy for the Flames to hold onto him at the deadline next year haha.

The difference with Dobson was there was a team that both had the assets to make the trade with and was a team he wanted to sign with.

Some other team might get to lose in the finals this year.

Some pressure on the player because the 8th year is gone. If he hits free agency he can only get 6.
I’m thinking 8 years matter to him.

I still think he’s best off extended, Dobson just set the upper limit. $8x8 or $9x6, get it done.
