Button on 960... The Swedish and Russian scouts both really wanted their guy, so Conroy told them he'd get them another pick so they could get both of them.

All in all another really solid draft for Conroy. I wasn’t necessarily onboard with the picks yesterday, but that was yesterday and today they are Calgary Flames so they are the best players in the draft.
Love that the area scouts really wanted Leander and Matveiko so Conroy went and got another pick so they could get both.

For me it was Reese Hamilton. I know his production fell off this year, but the kid is an electric skater. Thought someone would take a chance on him rebounding. The Flames would have the book on him though as he was with the Hitmen before being traded to the Pats.

According to Button, of the North American players, we can expect 3 to play in the NCAA next season and 2 to play one more year in junior then go to the NCAA the following season. The Euros will presumably stay in Europe.

Bruno Idzan (Ottawa, 6th round) became the 1st Croatian born and Croatian national* drafted by an NHL team. He played youth hockey in Zagreb before moving to Sweden to pursue hockey at a higher level, and then joined the Lincoln Stars.
* Goran Bezina (Phoenix, 8th round) was technically the 1st Croatian born player drafted into the NHL, but he grew up almost entirely in Switzerland and was considered a Swiss national on the international stage.
I think that is pretty cool. I always like to see more international representation in hockey.

The guy that the oilers drafted second last in the draft was there in shorts and a hoodie. Sounds like he didn’t really think he was getting drafted, but was supporting friends. Pretty funny scene, just wish he went anywhere else
