I love this. This dude is an overager, 6’1 and weights 150 pounds, and we traded to make sure we get him. This is such a sleeper pick that I’m interested how it turns out. I couldn’t even find anything on this guy on YouTube.

Obviously none of us know anything about him so I would trust the staff who actually saw him play. Maybe they think with correct due and training he has untapped potential

Flames haven't made two picks in the 7th round of a draft since 2013 when they took Rushan Rafikov and John Gilmour.

A draft re-entry.

NHL lists him at 6'1'' 150lbs
They list him as a center in that link.

Kind of cool that they specifically traded to draft him. They must think he has some potential. Based on the tale of the tape, if he puts on some mass and gets some nourishment, maybe he can be a late bloomer. He's tall, but the weight suggests he has the physique of a much younger player.

Button on 960 says that the area scouts were arguing over whether to take Leander or Matveiko with their last pick and Conroy said I will get you another pick

They ran Jankowski's draft photo through AI and said "make it more Russian".

Flames had 9 picks for next season, and are likely to collect more.

Easy move for Conroy to make and great way to reassure his scouting team that if they feel strongly about a player, he'll make it happen for them.

I'll never complain about a super late pick that somebody with personal viewings fought hard for.

He's actually 150 kg. If hockey doesn't work, he'll become a sumo.

Sometime guys fall through the cracks in Russia.

I wonder if the Flames try to bring him to North America to take control of his development. He is no longer listed as an active player on his team's roster. Letting his stew in the MHL as an over ager probably won't do much to help. Could someone take him the CHL import draft on Wednesday?
