You think this is happening without Marner directing it?

The last time Bradagast did a sign and trade, it prevented the Oilers from winning two Stanley Cups.

Obviously not. It was more of joking around with DM post.

The only way this works, is if Peitroangelo is done with hockey.

Marner will be a better piece there. The team plays more aggressive there, so the surrounding players can do the dirty work while he does the pretty plays. In Toronto very few were willing to do that including Marner. This just allows more complimentary pieces in the Vegas team. Wonder what the AAV will be though.

All the big names go south of the border. No surprise here. Has a top ten free agent ever chosen to sign on a Canadian team (excluding Toronto)?

Bouwmeester (yes, he was a trade, but he was really a UFA).

Top 10? Sure when Markstrom signed in Calgary he was in the top 5 free agents. Kadri was definitely in the top 5 maybe only second to Gaudreau. Lucic was a big name when he went to Edmonton (almost a decade ago).

And there was going to be a bidding war. Almost every team in the league was going to throw an offer at Marner.
Getting the deal done early is good for Vegas because it avoid the bidding war and secures the player and it is good for Marner because he gets paid and gets the 8th year on the contract.
Huge move and incredibly frustrating for Flames fans.

Why do they always land in our division?

i understand but they go ALL or nothing every year so when they don't win the cup it is considered a major failure.

Luckily we have a cap. At least this is the last season they can use LTIR to stash a player.
But I’d rather Vegas get these guys and stop Edmonton.

This isn't true. It may be for the owner's ego, but not for anything that actually matters.
17 playoff rounds, 3 conference finals, 2 SCFS and one title in their first 8 years. That's how you ensure 30+ years of loyal fans, and create a global brand.
They go all in every year because they have a bunch of prime aged superstars and a market that forces you to be good to be worthy of any attention.
Unless you're the Raiders.

Tre can ask, but Vegas likely tells Toronto to shove it and get nothing in 4 days. Marner loses his last year though.

Please let Brad let another UFA walk for nothing, and please give Mitch Marner less money than he'd otherwise receive.
