Ha, ha. But I'm talking about tai chi warm up/practice movements. Not the actual full blown tai chi. I was just testing some of the movements to see if they'd be useful for some ailments and injury/issues I've been dealing with because other things I've tried haven't been as helpful IMO. Some of the motions remind me of similar effects as doing balancing movements on a bosu ball, except I can kinda do it anywhere vs needing a specific area/equipment to do the bosu ball exercises.
I'd do this just in the privacy of my home though. I'd never go to a public gym and do these ridiculous actions as a warm up, I'll do stretches like a normal person.
Some of the warm up movements are kinda hilarious. Something like the rising sun jump just looks like someone high on shrooms pretending to do a garden gnome mating ritual.
There's another spine movement that looks like you're trying to hump as hard as possible, but after trying it out, the muscle groups that are triggered makes it feel similar to the muscles triggered when using a rowing machine. It honestly look stupid, but ignoring how it looks, the movement seems like it'll be effective long term.
I've been looking into some of these movements as kind of a way to mix it up/replace boring stretches. Many of these I just need an open space and I have a few moments. Like standing around waiting for the microwave and being able to do it for 30-60 seconds like a stretch or something vs needing a full place on the floor to lie down/sit. Again, I know it looks stupid, but if it helps gives me the long term pain relief/range of motion improvements I'll consider it. I've tried too many other things that didn't work as I had hoped or were too hard/boring to stick with.

If you're Asian you are 100% allowed to do these at the gym.
I do the Athlean-X dynamic stretch routine and most of the movements are pretty uncommon.

lol. I think people would think they're being punked with hidden cameras. If I wear a stretchy tang suit, people might think I'm trying to challenge someone to a fight with those exercises.
NGL, the Athlean dynamic stretches look like something I will want to look into. I occasionally get serious back pain if I over endure it for months. I have so many things that just are not effective for me like the back stretchers, foam rollers, hard rollers, peanut/lacrosse balls etc. that just mash the muscle but just are not enough to release the tension in the muscle. It's so bad that lying on a hard floor no longer gives relief. I have to use a hard plastic roller hoop and that's still not enough. Massage and chiro help a ton, but they're adjustments, so short term fixes vs long term solution.
A few weeks ago, I did recently end up with a massage therapist that sorta offhandedly said she disagrees my issues are my IT bands (as previously reported by several other physio I no longer go to) and believes my headache and back pain issues are my hip flexors and extensors. If she is correct, this could be a huge chunk of the reason why a lot of what I'm doing didn't seem to work as lots of what I am doing doesn't really address hip flexors/extensors. I'm giving those types of exercises/stretches more emphasis and I'm hoping for the best. I'm pretty desperate to find a proper long term solution that's easier to stick with because the issues can get really, really bad.

Best of luck with this - I had 10 years of debilitating back pain clear up within 2 weeks when I started doing hip flexor/extensor stretches/exercises daily.

Random Thoughts thread has apparently been mur-diddly-urdlered, so this will suffice I guess.. can see the Calgary Tower from my new place in Bankview, so I like to check the site for what colours it'll be on certain evenings.
Birthday around the corner, so thought I'd see what it says for that night: "Special LED Lighting: Calgary Tower's birthday". I share a birthday with the Calgary Tower...so I got that going for me.
That is all...this message brought tob you by vacation beers with a goodfella.

Great pickup line: "Hey baby, I share two traits with the Calgary Tower. Can you guess what they are? Hint, one of them is in my pants!"

In Calgary for the Canada day lacrosse tournament. We're staying by the airport - any recommendations for pizza? Would like it delivered if anyone knows a good place. Thanks!
