Good signing for a pretty young guy that was very stable and solid for us.

Bahl and Reschny for Markstrom. We fleeced the Devils with that trade. Bahl is going to be a very important part of this D core over the next 6 years.

They would be a way better team with Bahl and Jake Allen than 1st shot Mark!

Super stoked about this! Rock solid Top 4 guy who just turned 25. He's a very important building block.

Bahl and Reschny for Markstrom...
Bahl in the organization for at least 7 years (assuming no trades). Great weekend thus far for Flames fans.

Feels like a little more than I would have liked. (I thought it would be $4.75-$5M) but can't be too mad about it and it's good to have him locked up for most of his prime.

Seems a bit high but I guess the cap is going up. So solid deal.

I think the extra year and $500K can easily be tied to his size and age.
Having him under contract until 31 pretty much grabs all of his key years, and walks him right into the age range of decline.
I'd like to see Bahl - Weegar together to start the year. That could/should be our top-pair.

Zadorov signed that contract at 29 years old, 4 years older than Bahl signing this one.

Bahl played top 4 D pairing minutes at 24 years old, and is now signed through his prime years to an AAV that is more than reasonable even if he doesn't progress any further. At his age and experience level, IMO it's very likely he is not done progressing. I also like the minimal amount of trade protection in the deal. 8 team NTC for the last half is not much of an issue.
Smart signing.

I think with the way the cap is rising, this is a very solid deal for a young top 4 guy.

You just know Treliving would have hung on to Markstrom out of personal loyalty or some dumb ish like that

Cap is going to 113.5 for 2027-28. The AAV here is 4.7% of that cap figure.Thats just north of 4.1 mil under this seasons cap. Its all relative. People would be singing Conroy’s praises if the cap was still stagnant and he extended around that number. This is a very fair deal for a player who brings something we lack on D.
