Lanny could read the weather in January and I would be inspired.

Apparently ceilings are same as old British pubs as we drafted 2 sub 6’ forwards. I don’t know what we are doing. We’ve been drafting bigger guys and now we have done a 180. Ask Minnesota how well Rossi did in playoffs. Running counter to the popular opinion on the board, this was a bad first round.

Who would your two picks have been?
I definitely wish both guys were 6’3” but I think the skilled size ran out in this draft after 14.
Wouldn’t have minded a trade up but I don’t think 18+31 gets you to 10.

Won’t know that for a few years so that’s a bit of a stretch haha. I always love all the hot takes on who the draft winners and losers are right after the draft because it hardly ever ends up that way. For every sure fire top pick like McDavid there’s always a late round pick that turns out better than most first rounders who inevitably bust.
We just won’t know for a couple of years. And if we did we sure wouldn’t be a bunch of random dudes fighting over it on the internet.

I beg your pardon, but I am the only Random dude fighting over it on this part of the internet. I'm not sure what all y'all are.

When you’re drafting in spots where the Flames are drafting you’re generally not going to find skill and size, those players get drafted higher.
Conroy is doing the best he can with the drafting opportunities available to him.
He needs better opportunities. We need a couple bottom-10 years (preferably bottom-3).

Zharovsky for sure. And probably Prokhorov as well.
I’m biased towards hard heavy hockey. I get you need skill. But this was a draft where you swing for fences for guys who have size with upside. Yeah, I was crushed with Aitkenson went at 17, but sounds like Reschny was the guy to regardless.
Hope we can get one of those guys tomorrow. But probably gone at 54. Hopefully Connie nails the ras trade.

Maybe we can use one of our two 2026 3rds + #54 to move up a bit in the 2nd tomorrow.

Zharovsky I’ll give you, don’t know much about him but he seems fairly nasty. Prokhorov is a Tuulola though. Half a point per game in the MHL in your draft year = bust.

If you are constantly chasing trends in the NHL and trying to emulate the most recent Stanley Cup winner, you will never beat the market.
The Flames are in a position where they can exploit what appeared to be some market inefficiencies in this 1st round.
It wasn't long ago that 5'10" Brayden Point put up 33 points in 23 playoff games.

Well that was a damp squid to say the least. No no1 C in those selections just goes to show we need to drop into the top ten for the draft. The longer we muck about in the mucky middle we are getting nowhere.

You can't draft a guy just because he's tall.
The Flames players who they felt were the BPA at their spot.
Potter has already played well against much older college players.
Is there risk with these players?
Of course there is, that's the nature of the draft, especially one where there was a series ledge at about pick 10.
