Out of thanks.

True, he is built like a hydrant - sometimes I think that's a good thing, and sometimes I think could also be a bit of a ceiling with early development. I trust that the Flames' strength and conditioning department took a look and feel there is more room, so hopefully you are right! Compete + Strength + lower center of gravity can definitely be more difficult to handle. I am definitely optimistic about this pick.

The only way reschny sticks at center is if he becomes one of the elitest of elite players like Point, Pavelski or Crosby. It could happen but the odds are remote. I hope he becomes a top six forward and both he and Coronato solidify the lw position for the next decade.
59 points in 61 games in 2023/24.
92 points in 62 games in 2024/25 (with most of them in the last half of the season).
25 points in 11 games in the 2024/25 playoffs.

He's trending in the right direction.

He has a high motor, high compete, plays bigger than his size, strong leadership skills...

I don't know how everyone isn't extremely excited about this guy.

That’s the point. Size and skill are valuable and are why teams reach for them early as they do and always will.

Reschny is a good pick but has less likelihood to contribute if he doesn’t hit his ceiling where as bigger players can be bottom six talent that is still valuable if they don’t hit their offensive ceiling.

The real big guys don’t turn out all the time but the bigger heavier players can withstand more punishment and deliver it. Look at Barkov 63 230.

You gotta take reaches when you’re not picking at the top of the draft. That’s why this draft was special because of the first tier of center prospects and we fell into the mushy middle missing on all of them. I’m happy with Cole but I would rather any other Center from first tier.

I’m happy to have Cole make me a believer though.

Just got off the phone with his uncle, he was my old foreman. Just chatted for 40 minutes . Said Macklin is going to have to learn to be flames fans . They are giddy though and ecstatic.
They are properly hammered over this pic.

This is thicc oiler country and that’s why i love this pick. Macklin is gonna be a cword.

It's like I always say, size will always be listed as an "asset" in hockey, and lack of size will always be a "detriment". If you can be an effective player in the NHL without size, then congratulations- you have made it, DESPITE being small.

Would be pretty sweet if he turns into a stud for the flames, and the whole community backs us because of it

Well if Calgary’s skating coach can work her magic, and he can find that extra gear. He wasn’t my first choice at this pick, and it sort of feels like they chose position over best player available, but I am hopeful that they got this one right. Hard to argue the production especially in the playoffs.

For sure but he was a huge reach. Flames couldn't have got Cootes either. If you want it for the Flames then it is Reschny vs Zonnon(?)
