Nobody is willing to take chances. Look how well those offer sheets worked for Doug Armstrong and the Blues last year. Some (most) teams are risk adverse, and never take swings. Mushy middle is their fate.

Doubt it. Looks more like a run on Cs. Now if that means one of either Aitcheson, Mrtka or Smith is still on the board at 18, Flames probably should go for BPA rather than picking one of the remaining Cs on the board that likely has a lower ceiling.
