lol Ras and Zary for a unprotected lottery pick in a very strong draft from a team that lost its #1 dman and #2 center and has no cap space still to make a big move?
Hagens and Schaefer won't be on the team next year either,

They will be bottom 10 and next year's draft is much stronger.
I like Zary but it is mind blowing how overrated he is on here. He's a maybe 60-point guy.

And if they don’t win the lottery? Looks terrible

You’re banking on them being terrible. The flames were supposed to be terrible this year too. Why would you risk every good asset the flames currently have for a huge gamble. Makes no sense

I’m just not as bought in as them being terrible as you are.

Thanks for the correction! I totally misread that. I should’ve picked up on that as Guy was exceptional defensively and Justin has some work in that regard…

You are also assuming Ras gets a ton in a trade. Dobson is way more valuable, and he landed to mid 1sts. I just don't see why Ras gets close to that.

$9,360,154 - $11,700,192 - 2x 1st Round Picks
- 1x 2nd Round Pick
- 1x 3rd Round Pick
This deal for Dobson would fall into this offer sheet category. I guess kinda similar value if you prefer getting the firsts right away. Plus, the Canadiens could be a good team going forward.

Agreed. I think the team has a pretty high floor with Wolf in net. There is nothing short of long term Wolf injury that will make this a bottom dweller IMO.
It's true that anything can happen, but you don't make plans based on unlikely things happening.

Ok so you're giving up multiple mid 1sts and Zary for MAYBE a top 10 next year? that could also just as well be a mid 1st...?

I think Islanders did fairly well here - two picks plus Heinemen (I didn't know Montreal got him back - he must be the most recently traded prospect from the last few years, no?).
I think this bodes well for an Andersson trade. Glad it is out of the way now, as Columbus can now shift their focus.

Dobson is only 25 so I and they have him at a fair salary for the prime of his career. I think he's going to be a lot better than the players picked at 16 and 17 of this draft.

Trade for Ras has happened and we got multiple mid 1sts? Conroy is amazing because I really doubt that happens.

It isn't happening if Barzal is being shopped. They will suck next year, that pick will be way to valuable for them to give up.

Yeah starting to look like NYI is joining the Pens as a team after McKenna, embracing the tank already

I think in the end this is going to look super lopsided in favour of Montreal. With how weak this Draft is looking, odds are this turn into Dosbon for 2 busts and Heineman.
In general I think nost teams who end up paying a high price for 2025 1st is going to look bqck with regret.
