Flip it for 4? Kinda makes sense. Although it does seem like Utah wants roster players. If Islanders want to go all in on a rebuild would Utah be interested in Barzal or Romanov perhaps?

Sorry, I should specify. If the Islanders are looking to move up in the draft, and Montreal is the front runner, Dobson for Mailloux and a 1st for Dobson, then the Isles flip both those for the 4th overall to Utah? Would have to think some more may need to be added?

Got it. And I think how far do they need to move up to get Hagens. Some think he could fall to 7 or 8.

Yeah. I guess in this case if they're that intent on getting him, and we know Utah's pick is available, it's possible they do it. The snowball could be they're looking for serviceable players themselves which makes me wonder if they take those assets Montreal would give them and flip them for Robertson or something. Robertson would be someone that would fit in well there.

If they get him signed for under $10M per after trading a teens pick in this draft and a prospect for him that's the biggest fleecing we'll see all summer. More teams should be in on this at that contract value.

That would:
A) scratch one more name off the list for CBS, and
B) set a lovely bar for the price for Andersson

They trade Dobson when we are trying to get max value for Ras
Isles trade him to a team that uses the 1st we paid them to take Monahan off our hands. Maybe that could gave come back here with some prospects for Ras.

Man, I see this differently. I think I value a relatively cap controlled asset with a high ceiling like Mailloux over a guy on a downturn demanding close to $10M. But we'll see how things shake out. Think Mailloux will be putting up Dobson's current numbers as soon as next season.
