That would be a major Conroy win if we had a 1 for 1 swap like that.

That's the gap in my view. It's not small.
(But I'd be thrilled w/ either of them)

I don't think either will be superstars though. I think Obrien can be a #1 center.
If you can trade up for cheap I would, but it won't be cheap.

Over the week Frank has been very 'high' on Andersson, he has talked him up at almost every opportunity. It'd be cool to see Connie smash a homerun with this one.

I wonder how the possibility of Dobson being available is impacting an Andersson trade.
I would assume Dobson is more highly valued, so does that need to settle before Rasmus is dealt?

Dobson is asking north of 10 million, Anderson's cap hit could be bellow 3 million this year.

Rasmus is under contract for a bargain and Dobson is asking $10mil… I think the suitors are very different (cup contenders vs. Building teams)

Frank even sounded off on Andersson being the better target of the two.
Dobson @ $10M+ is whacky, but then again he's 25 and this is what I know of him:

So maybe it's not that crazy. Seems like a lot for a 40-50 point defender unless he truly he a top-end defensive defenceman ontop of that.

How about Anderrson (extended), Zary, 32nd pick, for Wyatt Johnston and Matt Dumba (cap dump)?
Bit of an overpay for Johnston (depending how you look at it), but could also be fair value for a 1A/1B C, 22 years old, right shot, and potential Olympian.
And kinda have to overpay a little bit if we want to take him off their hands. While helping their cap situation.
Johnston also plays well during playoffs from what I recall. And we would finally have that 1C. He’s a guy we hope Misa could turn into

Elliotte this morning said Dobson wants to stay in the eastern conference so that narrows down trading partners.

If that happened I would hope the Flames subsequently flip Robertson for an early pick. Squandering their best trade chip on a LW would be quite annoying.

I think this is why Seravalli was saying that there's more interest for Raz despite Dobson being younger - because a contending team can add him to their roster potentially with the cap hit of a 4th liner, which is a huge deal when every dollar counts.

I agree, and If SJ has Misa and Celebrini down the middle for years, watch out NHL. Throw in they have also Will Smith, Askarov, Musty and Dickinson, they are stacked for the future and a perennial cup contender. That core should guarantee them a cup at some point. Easily why they have the best prospect pool in the NHL. Mike Grier has done an exceptional job stacking their cupboards.

Yeah it took Grier a couple steps to get running, but he's running taken off. He's doing a great job. The salary cap they have is going to get weaponized as well I imagine.
If they can grab a few of the top free agents to compliment their young players, I think they're a playoff team in 25/26.
