Teams are busy, there’s lots of chatter and lots of picks moving in the works.
It really just comes down to who’s on the board because it’s so wide open guys.

I think we see more picks moved than normal.

I’m thinking we have an uneventful draft tomorrow. Will still be exciting to see two new Flames players.

re Jeannot: I am all for signing him - not only will they trade Lomberg at the deadline, but I think adding Jeannot opens the door for trading Coleman.

Only because we are expecting something to happen. Yeah, I could see that.

Utah seems interested in a splash. 4 through 10 I could see moving. 2 or 3 would be insanity but max chaos

19 year old Parekh is NOT better than 28 year old Andersson. Not even close.

Parekh is going to be bad defensively his first few months. He knows how to play, but he's never done it against opposing teams where every player has NHL speed. The only way to learn that, unfortunately, is by experience. In the long run, I agree with your assessment, but for the '25-26 season, assuming he makes the team, Parekh is likely to be the biggest hole in the Swiss cheese.

Wait and see. Was a rookie Cal Makar better than Andersson?

We will see. I don't think Parekh is as bad defensively as some think.

Parekh is not ready to take on 24 minutes per game or be thrown out immediately against the top lines in the NHL.

I think he is going to be amazing but give the kid a minute (season) with sheltered time to get his feet wet. The last thing we need is for him to get injured because we rush him at 19.

Here are a few PP percentages from last year:

EDM: 23.7%
FLA: 23.5%
WSH: 23.5% (that Ovechkin dude)
VAN: 22.5%
DAL: 22.0%
CGY: 21%

So what exactly do we think a 19 year old Parekh is going to do to those stats? Do we think the Flames are suddenly going to have a better PP than EDM and FLA and the rest of these teams? Can we reasonably expect that it would suddenly be better than VAN's (with Hughes)?

Hockey is a team game. And one player just doesn't change the standings much. Especially a 19 year old player

We need a center or trade up to draft a center. Zary signs a team friendly deal, sure keep him. But if he wants long term and a high AAV and we can trade him to move up in the draft, then why not.

Jeannot is a big, decent skater and a great 3rd liner. I'd take him

I think if Huska has the same buy in from the team as last year, the Flames structure can hide some of Parekh's defensive deficiencies.

What will be very interesting to see is if they unleash Parekh offensively where he can take some liberties and tap into his full skillset. He brings an element to the Flames they just haven't had, maybe ever.

I could see a scenario where <insert another replacement level D (i.e. Hanley mold)> + Parekh is a better overall D group than last year's group with Ras.

Yeah, I would not be moving Connor Zary. He might have the most pure skill on the team.
