A bit of insurance at center ice position too with our aging 1C and 2C.
Short term deal at modest AAV fits Conroy UFA approach. Age 26 also nice.
Source Google AI: Cody Glass's suppression numbers, in the context of ice hockey, refer to his relative success in defensive situations, specifically his Corsi For percentage (CF%) and Fenwick For percentage (FF%). His 2024-2025 season stats show a strong positive impact on his team's puck possession when he's on the ice, with a CF% of 55.5% and a REL CF% (relative to his teammates) of 4.0%. His FF% is even higher at 56.6%, with a REL FF% of 5.0%, indicating he's contributing to a significant suppression of shots against his team.
Solid showing during the 2022-23 season in which he put up 35 points (14 goals and 21 assists) in 72 games played.

Well, it's settled then- go get him Conny!

I agree, but he's progressing nicely the last 4 seasons, going from 22 points to 28, to 39, to 57. 6'3",203lb power forward who is listed as a C/RW; not sure how good he is at C though.

Could have had him for free last year. Don’t think they think too much about the player.

I've always rooted for him. That video of the Preds GM calling him in to tell him he made the team and him breaking down was gut wrenching.
Would love to see him sign here.

Sure, but if contract negotiations aren't agreeable at least turn him into the next option.

Found it interesting the way CC mentioned their negotiations in his media time. Seemed almost like “why worry about it in case I don’t need to”

There is 0% chance the Flames are landing McKenna.
So many worse teams. Wolf alone give us that option. The Flames were better than some playoff teams… people need to let it go this notion we will get one of these future superstars. It’s not happening. They’re just not that bad with or without Andersson.

Noah Dobson is supposedly asking for 10 million.
On Barnburner the other day, Frank Seravalli had the hot take that he thinks Andersson is better and a more desirable trade piece than Dobson.

Strangely quiet. Lots of teams probably locked in the war room keeping things tight to their chest now.

0% ? Every team in the bottom 10 has a chance
You think there’s zero chance the Flames are a bottom 10 team next year
Boston and Nashville prob thought the same
This team had a negative goal differential last year

Tomorrow could be the craziest draft we’ve seen.
Ever.
I want action too guys, but Craig wants t he bidding war and he’s getting it.
Let’s drive that price up and get the best deal.
We have all the power because Rasmus is still technically a Flame this year.
Let’s bring on the draft tomorrow !

I guess by that logic, the NYI have a 0% chance of landing the #1 spot this year. Whoopsie!

I guess a silver lining is that the less trades that happen now will happen tomorrow where we get to hear Gary's famous "We have a trade to announce". That's my hope at least.

It’s all going to happen on the virtual draft floor as players get taken and teams lose enthusiasm for the remaining guys versus improving their team by trade.

Are there?
- The teams that have been tanking for the last ~8 years are all trying to pull out of their rebuilds (Ducks, Sharks, Blackhawks, and Sabres).
- Predators, Bruins, and Kraken all dipped but are all wanting to be playoff teams
- Both NY Teams, Red Wings, Mammoth, CBJ are all bubble teams trying to get into the playoffs.
Aside from the Flames, the Penguins and Flyers are the only teams that I think are going to try to sink. That is a lot less tanking teams than the NHL has seen in recent years.
Trading Andersson means the Flames are giving more minutes to Pachal? And if the Flames start trading away other vets (Coleman, Backlund, Kadri) then at some point the table is going to fall over.

Yeah I mean unless there's some big time hockey trade that shocks us all, the roster is not improving.
We're subtracting Rasmus and the UFA crop this year is pretty sparse. We are connected to nobody. Oh sorry, Tanner Jeannot. A 4th liner who fills the exact same role as Ryan Lomberg.

I agree.
Yes, Dobson is younger, and gets more points. But there is more to defense than points.
And contracts matter. If both players were signed for $8M per, Dobson is probably more attractive to more of the teams. But if Dobson is looking for $11, and Andersson has a year at $2.3-4.5, then 8 years at $8ish, then Andersson is the more desirable piece for sure.

Except Parekh >> Andersson. Just the PP bump that kid will give us will be huge. I am sure there are other moves in the mix as well.
