Conroy has a plan, but I am not sure its working. He has tried to sign most of the departing veterans to extensions, but was unable to do so. When he has been forced to trade players he has targeted tweeners over picks and prospects. He has done some good things re prioritizing youth, drafting/development, and protecting assets. But the macro strategy isnt likely to turn us into a contender now or in the future.
As for Andersson, I hope they find a good return before free agency. I appreciate that he is motivated, but he is a big domino and we dont need the uncertainty going into UFA and the season.

Nacho earned the right to get paid. I'm sure the flames will keep the offer on the table but someone will offer him longer term. Good for him!

It's part of the business. Besides, that core had been together for what 5 or 6 years and it didn't work? Time to turn the page. If they don't want to be here, bye.

Don't think they'll flirt with -40 either.

You listed one blue chipper, one maybe, a probably not and a long shot.
Are you honestly listing Ilya Solovyov with a serious face? The guy who turns 25 in a month and was -3 in 5 games last year (since you added that plus/minus comment at the end). Rasmus Andersson had 50 points and +30 at the same of 24. Give your head a shake.

It's an outside shot given his age but there was also a logjam at D this past season. Not much opportunity to acclimatize with 15GP total. Not every player develops at the same rate/timeline. He's one of four darts and I'd bet on the two OHL stars first.
Raz today isn't what he once was. People still super high on him seem to be looking back. He's ok offensively and high compete but sub average defensively.
The fact that he still has a positive reputation around the league after this season is a miracle. I hope we capitalize on it.
His personality won't be easy to replace but the player will be (relatively so).

I think Tre was the person David Byrne was talking about in the song Psycho Killer.

Beyond questionable that he has been forced to trade anyone but let’s analyze the idea that he traded players he tried to sign for tweeners and not picks or prospects. Below are the trades he made with the Flames player and the age of the player he acquired at the time of the trade
Toffoli for an 18 year old and a 25 year old
Lindholm for a 19 year old, 21 year old, 17 year old, 17 year old and 27 year old
Zadorov for a 17 year old and 15 year old
Tanev for a 20 year old, a 17 year old and a conditional pick that never came to fruition who was 15 at the time.
Hanifin for a 15 year old, 18 year old and 26 year old.
When 10 out of the 14 assets cannot legally drink in Vegas at the time of the trades I am not sure how they are not picks and prospects. They certainly are not tweeners.

I like that Rooney is gone. As for Anderson I hope once Ekblad is gone, Anderson is traded shortly after. I do not want Anderson on team September. To much of a distraction and who knows if they would trade him if they were in a playoff spot.

I don't think it'll matter because I think Andersson is traded tomorrow, but I don't think him being around will be a distraction. Literally everyone will know he's gone eventually during the season, we're likely not contenders next year for it to impact the the wins vs losses. Next year's just about players making positive progress and continuing to grow the culture, and to be honest Rasmus around could help that anyway.
The only bad scenario is Conroy can't find a trade partner at or before the deadline, which I only think happens if he's injured. But again, I think he's traded well before the season even starts.

This is very different from "replaced just fine". Smart idea to pivot from that.

Yeah this one was a head scratcher; very trelivingesque. Basically gave the pick away.

Sure but his body of work is all for picks and prospects as a general rule.
I did not even add Mangiapane for a 16/17 year old at the time or Markstrom for a 16/17 year old and a 24 year old.
Craig has a super obvious plan. Offer most guys a contract that he can live with, if they say no then move them for picks and prospects under the age of 25 (usually younger). Suspect he continues that plan for the next couple years.
