Its also frustrating that we "just started" seeing what's out there for Ras.......the whole idea that they JUST exchanged numbers and they had not much idea before where each party was at doesn't make much sense to me. Nothing against Conroy because I really like him, but everyone and their dog knew that this situation was coming a year ago.....and he clamors about how honest, transparent, and tight they are with each other.
I also dont think waiting = better offers. Its 50/50 at best. I wouldn't say we got killer offers for any of the guys we sold. I'm glad Hunter B. and Matvei Gridin are looking real good, otherwise the whole "5 pieces for Lindholm" narrative is looking pretty 'meh'. I mean Joni Jurmo, Kuzmenko (@ 5.5MM for another full yr) and a conditional mid pick aren't really "pieces" worth clamoring about. Throw in the Miromanovs, Grushnikovs, etc.......
At least Bahl is looking solid if we can resign him at a good price. I'm not convinced that waiting got us a better offer there either.
I'm just ranting and all over the place now. Tomorrow can't come fast enough.
Appreciate all the insider info guys!

Perhaps he saw the might still sign him risk as a smart chip to play at the table. And he could be right.
My point is they HAVE to make a call on when an asset would have more value. And I doubt very much they'd ever do anything against that decision.
Fair game to argue they are wrong. But little point in suggesting we know better without all the info, or that they're acting on anything but what they think is the best way to proceed from an asset management standpoint.

Your points are very fair as well. Understood that they have all the information and we as fans do - therefore when in doubt, management should get the benefit of the doubt.
My biggest fear is too much hanging on to emotions and hope that is causing too much hesitation.
Fingers crossed we get a contending team in 5 years.

You need to chill out. The timing of the trade is still not important.
There are really 3 scenarios to watch out for:
1) Trade day deal because a team that is not chasing Ekblad is willing to give the Flames what they want to land a #1RD
2) UFA day deal, which may have more value because it can include an extension (trade day deals cannot include an extension)
3) Post-UFA day deal, as other RD leave the board it could leave Andersson as the last available option for the remaining teams
Right now, there are more teams in need of RHS defenders than there are available RHS defenders. Rushing the trade is not to the Flames benefit but I do agree that they want to have the trade done before camp.

Painful to wait that long for a 1st, but it also means Vegas could suck by then. Stone will be 36 and he hasn't exactly been injury free lately. Eichel may throw another fit when the team slides and want out himself. Or his neck issues could come back.

Also makes them a lot better for 2026 and 2027 so our picks from them are much worse

Literally everyone but Coronato, Wolf and Parekh should be on the table for #2, but that’s just me yelling into the void.

So now that Utah traded a RHD, what are the chances we can trade Ras to them for Iggy Jr?

We all keep waiting for Vegas to suck but then in the same breath a lot of will bring up how everyone wants to play there and how cut throat they are with players and how they’ve utilized LTIR etc.
They’re never going to suck. Not anytime soon.

Well sure but does that leave you with anything that could form the basis of a strong offer?

Me thinks Dimitry Simashev is en route to fill that spot.

Doesn't feel like a fit to me. They have Durzi and Marino on the right side. I could see them being in on one of the left D like Hague or Miller.
If they were going after a RD, I think they would prioritize Ekblad (since they have cap) or Dobson (since he's a bit younger)

Yah, I didn't think it'd be a serious thing. But would have loved to somehow get Iggy here.
