Might as well add play-in games and we can watch the cup final on Canada Day!

If this is in conjunction with decreasing the preseason, I'm all for it.

Given two more games, the Flames would have made the playoffs this year.

I'm all for it if we reduce the amount of preseason games and start the season earlier - also ending it sooner. I'm tired of waiting until mid June for the playoffs to finally be over, it should be mid May at latest imho. And given the length of the season I find preseason to be a waste of time so they may as well shorten it up.

Axe the preseason entirely and let's go.

Why not reduce the number of games so the Cup is handed out in late April. Season is way too long.

April is way too soon. Not as easy to enjoy a long playoff run in Canada if the cup is awarded in April.

Ideally the Cup is awarded by May 31.

Let's settle difference and make it mid May

Deal. It always feels weird on the socials seeing the annual "on this day in 1989, the Flames won the Cup" post when it's early into the conference final, if not late 2nd round.

Our summers are so short already, don't make me choose between a gorgeous summery evening and watching a winter sport please.

Four or five but we might need a few threads to discuss how many threads is just right.

I would love to see them expand the playoffs to include some concept of a play-in round. But Bettman apparently hates the idea. I think once he retires you'll see more changes there. And I agree with those that are speculating that next season will be his last. He's checked off all the list of "to do's" with the last one being this new CBA.

It's the same number of games, just in a shorter period of time.

In 1989, the Flames first round series against Vancouver was played on April 5, 6, 8, 9, 11, 13, 15. Yes, the first 4 games in 5 days. You had 8 games per night on those days.

How about have 80 then a week of play-ins with 20 teams qualifying.

That way teams with 96 f-ing points can have an opportunity to punch their tickets to the playoffs without having to worry about being denied by ROWs on the final day.
