It is hilarious seeing this return and acknowledge that it would not have required Parekh or Wolf.

And my point is we don't need to address our future #1C right now or even this summer. The current assets aren't the only ones we'll have before entering a legit competitive window. So there should be zero holdups from just making good grades to acquire good players. Worst case those are the ones you flip later to get the missing pieces.

This is a great trade for Utah. They could look at dealing the 4 pick for more ready assets and be competitive now

Also, this is why you can’t cite Buffalo as a reason to not rebuild.
They are incompetent, that’s why they fail. You can’t overcome incompetence.

I think there is legitimate risk he doesn’t repeat his production of last season

Too bad Andersson wouldn’t sign there. Could have got 9th + Byram + Peterka for him and Pospisil lol.
As an aside it’s the same for the oilers on the management piece lol

Have to wonder when others, like Dahlin, demand to get out

What were some of the offers being thrown up here for Peterka? 18OA ++?
I think someone suggested Andersson + 32nd or 18th?

But we do need to add a #1C this summer. It is the critical path of the Flames roster, especially if the player is young and needs time to develop before they can step into the role.
Wolf changed the timeline on the "rebuild", as did Huberdeau when he started to find his groove again. The Flames have an amazing young goalie, piles of wingers (with some looking very good), middle and bottom Cs, and solid RD depth.
The primary holes in the roster are #1C and #1LD. Wasting time and assets on wingers is just going to compound the problem of having a growing talent pool in the organization that is held back by the critical missing pieces.
C or bust (and then focus on LD).

I'm thinking a lot of that hinges on this Summer.
Adams has to make some big moves...and Andersson may have to be a target because of this. They have to do something to keep their current roster engaged...

Good luck materializing the hardest asset in hockey. I’m not holding my breath for it
