Can people please get past this idea of "zoig, the Oilers have all da cap room now!" as a result of this trade. Even Oilers board I've checked out is like wait now we can...
Oh wait, it's already eaten up....

My VAN pals seem sure that Hughes will bolt for NJ.

You have to think this will hasten his exit. Can't see Hughes wanting any part of a POS person like Kane.

In other news Daryl Katz has sold his $3 million Whistler Chalet to Francesco Aquilini for $1 dollar

Casting couch goes with Katz though.

THEY DON'T HAVE EXTRA CAP SPACE

Drai is going from 8.5-14M
Bouchard is going from 3.9 to 10M+

They just lost one of their best depth players (low bar) and will have to fill with league min just to keep the same players and not even all of them

I honestly couldn't be arsed to check how much this helped the Oilers.

There's no way this is the last move they make this summer too.

But in any case, chill out man.

This move doesn't solve the issue, but it's a step to get there. Hopefully they don't solve the problem, but getting rid of Kane is still a positive for them. I was expecting a buy out or salary retention at least.

I'm chilled, people who "can't be arsed to check" keep posting the same thing even though it has been discussed 50 times

The move doesn't even cover one of the raises and honestly Kane is one of their top six forwards (lol)

But why do you care?

It's June 25th. They'll be cap compliant somehow by the start of the season. Being rid of Kane will help them in that regard even if only slightly. It doesn't matter if they're currently under, at or way over the cap.

In any case my point was this move potentially doesn't help them much, if at all, because odds are they'll do something else that's stupid and compounds their problem... Which you're agreeing with anyway.

E=NG. What's the argument?

Carry on.

It still gives them "more" cap space.

Doesn't mean they are out of cap jail entirely to be able to add a substantial piece.

But Vancouver gave them a bit of a pass for no reason.

As much as Kane is an ass it they will need to replace him with a worse player just to pay for part of a raise for a player they already had.
This doesn't improve the Oilers at all.
Reminds me of last summer..."OMG Jeff Skinner is gonna socre 30 goals!"

Oilers don't beat LA without Kane

Heard a rumour that Perry is signing for 1x1.4m - Person hasn't broken anything before so who knows.

Based on body language, it looked like Kane frustrated McDavid quite a bit on the ice as well. I wouldn't be shocked if McDavid asked for him to be moved.

Kane is a POS and I would never want him on the Flames, but I don't see how the Oilers get better. Most of this money goes to re-signings, and they won't have much if anything left to replace Kane.

As for Vancouver, big gamble. Best case scenario is he helps get you into the playoffs, or has a good season and you can flip him at the deadline. The risk however is that you blow up your team.

He gives off constant "someone pissed in my cornflakes" vibes.

Probably Draisaitl. Seems like something he'd do.
