I believe in the Jays.

And now we get a yellow for a perfectly clean tackle. This is shaping up to be a typical CONCACAF game

Just a garbage player; casually dives in for a scissor tackle while already on a yellow.
Canada still not dealing with the aggression very well, especially against 10 men.

lol. One of the longest half in gold cup history. Except earlier today when they played 17 minutes of extra time in the first half.

Dumb half. There’s going to be nothing to take from this game. Lock up first and move on.

Another red to a coach.
If the game was in San Salvador, no way ES has 9.
Big issues with Canada though. Very little to be pleased against a 3rd rate team. Casual from both David's for the team's best chances.
Canada's midfield non existent. Sigur?
Choniere touches only because of corners.
Playing down to a terrible opponent only looking to goon it up.

Ref got some threats at halftime because that was more of a penalty than the one vs Shaffleburg. Another scissor tackle.
Another goal. ES and their fat plugger defenders or the one forward playing defense, don't have the fitness.

Ya those scissor tackles can be ankle breakers. Their forward has undercut like 6 times. And he finally gets a yellow

Leg breakers. Achilles shredders. Knee collapsers. You can expect contact from the front but when the strength and stability you are expecting to protect your legs gets suddenly taken away by a trailing behind the leg tackle, it's brutal.

Well that was....... something. El Salvador took CONCACAF buffoonery to another level tonight. Not that they were thinking rationally but that display was never going to end well for them. I get the tactic of making the game chippy and trying to draw Canada into a street fight but even that requires some level of discipline. El Salvador was completely unhinged from the get go.
It's hard for me to take much away from this game other than that it's 3 points and nobody appeared to get injured. I'm tempted to critique the fact that we struggled to break down their 5-3 low block after the second goal but I just think getting out of the match without injuries and cards was priority one once we were up 2-0.
I'm really interested in seeing who starts on Sunday against Guatemala. There's lots of juicy questions for me:
- Promise or Tani up top with the Ice Man?
- Assuming that Saliba comes back into central midfield, who partners him? Choiniere? Koné? Sigur? Is Eustaqiao an option?
- We've got 4 days now until Guatemala so I don't think rotation is as much an issue.
My starting line up would be (R-L)
St. Clair
Johnston - De Fougerolles - Cornelius - Laryea
Buchanan - Choiniere - Saliba - Shaffelburg
J. David - P. David

Got the win and no one got hurt. That's about as good as you can expect from a game like that.
