Price was really good, but longevity should play into it - not just a few years of playing really well. Keith to me was always overrated, just as Doughty is today. Agree with the rest getting in.

Funny, I think he was underrated due to being on such a star studded team.
But he carried that team playing 30 minutes a night in the playoffs.
Everyone talked about Kane and Toews, but he was just as important to the their SC championships.
And he and Weber in the Olympics may have been the best dmen pair I've ever seen.
I think Doughty was also an HOF dmen, the Kings don't win a Cup without him. Now he may be overrated today, but he wasn't in the past.

Is it true that before Thornton got traded to San Jose, Calgary was interested but Boston wanted Regehr included in the package so Sutter said no? Could be 100% BS

No, don't think so. When Thornton was traded to the Sharks the general thought around the league was.. WTF. Most sentiment was shock. Most Gm's didn't even know he was available when the trade happened.

I think Kipper might actually be closer comparable to Ryan Miller. But I think you could make an argument that if any one of them got in, all three should get in. Each won a Vezina, Price won a Hart, none won a cup.
GP - W - GAA - SV%
796 - 391 - 2.64 - .914
624 - 319 - 2.49 - .912
712 - 361 - 2.51 - .917
That’s Miller, Miikka and Price.

When will your Dick Duff troll hatred campaign stop!! Haha.
I have a photo of Dickie Duff with my dad when he was about 5 as the stick boy for the team my dad was playing on in Kirkland Lake.
There’s a good vid of Lanny telling Jumbo he made the Hall. He said holy Fata first thing.

Poor Kipper and that disastrous last season. 2 years under Keenan as well. He should be a lock.

I know a guy who roomed with Mogilny in buffalo. Said he was a degenerate …….golfer. Would golf during game days which wasn’t allowed but they look the other way. Not like Hasek who was hammered all the time.

The phrase "Federko bar" likely refers to Bernie Federko's Steak & Sports, a restaurant formerly owned by retired NHL player Bernie Federko. It was located at 400 South 14th Street in St. Louis, Missouri. The restaurant has since closed.
lol
OK seriously though he was the first player in NHL history to have 10 consecutive 50 assist seasons and was the 22nd player in NHL history to record 1000 points.
If that doesn’t justify being in the Hall of Fame I don’t know what does. Even accounting for the fact that hockey in the early 80s was kind of a joke.

The argument against Federko was that he was never nominated for any major words, his best finish was 9th in Hart Trophy voting, and he was never a 1st team all star. Consistently very good but never great.
Of course, it should also be noted that for many players during that error, what chance was there of getting awards nominations with Gretzky breaking records?

They set the low bar then Kevin Lowe made it. Still annoying Iggy went in with 2 Toilets like Holland and Lowe.

for sure he was a C at just about the stackiest time to be a C in league history, on the other hand he was not only never a first or 2nd team all star, he only got votes 4 times - highest he finished 4th (with 8 votes and Guy Chouinard was 3rd- this was before 99 was in the league) then his other years with votes he finished 6th (2 votes tied wtih Bobby Smith ), 5th (this might be his most impressive showing- 15 votes- behind Nilsson but ahead of Stastny) and one last time where he finished 6th with 2 votes- sandwiched between ageing Perreault and Dionne
he was just never as you point out elite, combined with (I don't always agree with it) a HOF emphasis on cups or winning if you aren't an elite and he didn't do that either
