I'd take Hertl for $.20 on the dollar.

In terms of cap dumps you are looking at potential guys like William Karlsson (5.9M), Nic Roy (3M), Keegan Kolsar (2.5m), Zach Whitecloud (2.75M), McNabb (3.65M). If the Flames could take one of those guys with a pick - it's a nice little bit of business.
I've always been a fan of Roy. Hague could be on that list too. Not as a cap dump, but as an RFA, he's tough to afford if they want Marner.

Just over $8M for 5 more years at 31 years old. Kinda like a more expensive less productive Kadri

31 and 5 years left has a modified ntc. They would gave to attach something significant to dump that on us.

I wouldn't mind Hertl because he would give us something we haven't had in a very long time.

Size down the middle. 6'3" and 215.

They have 9.1M in space dumping Roy gives them 12.1M. Would be difficult.

We have their 1st next year. Don't help them one single bit

Hertl has only a 3 team trade list per puckpedia. I would like him on the Flames but I doubt Calgary is on his approved list.

I don’t think Calgary would help them to be honest… it’s just a comment someone made and we all know VGK is in win now. Lots of teams need relief.

Us helping them results in a worse unprotected pick for us next season, so the price would have to be high.

Except that if someone IS going to help them it might as well be you.
The only reason you would not help them is if you think no one else will either. Otherwise they will still sign Marner, and improve, and you didn't take advantage of the situation.

I think Vegas has eaten a lot of good will away. I dont think we'd be the only ones looking for a premium from them.

Thanks for the updates Sec.

Please strike while the iron is hot Conroy. If there is strong interest for Kadri and Coleman and they are willing to waive their NTC, this offseason is the time to make the trade. They are both at the age where their games could drop off and their values could plummet. The team has young players pushing for spots and much of the team’s record last year was buoyed by veteran production. Let’s see what the team looks like with young players playing bigger roles. There will still be veteran leadership with guys like Weegar, Backlund and Huberdeau. Even at center - if Kadri was traded for picks/prospects - you could run this season with Zary full time as a centre. Worst case scenario is to go into the season with Frost-Zary-Backlund-Kirkland/Hunt/Morton at centre. Obviously the centre ice position would be even weaker with the loss of Kadri but it would be a step towards getting younger and developing center from within. If next year the flames take a step back and get a high pick in the McKenna draft - that’s the best time to do it.

$6.75M x 6 sounds very reasonable for Rasmus, almost too good to be true... I would be happy to see him back at that caphit, and think he would be a bargain at 6-7% of the cap going forward, assuming $100M cap in 2 years.

That would be a bargain and probably a tradeable contract as well assuming he doesn't completely fall off. Obviously it would come with an NMC, but that isn't always the end all.

That contract would boost Andersson’s value but he’d be leaving a pile of money on the table

Yeah, you can't leave $12-15M on the table (plus risk for years 7 and 8) just to stay with a team you like - there could be a coach or GM change next year, and suddenly you're asking yourself "WTF was I thinking?"

His agent is paid to not let him make that mistake
