Not Calgary but close enough. Sounds like Craig's Way Station in Canmore is closing June 22, it is on their Facebook page. Google says 'visitor accommodation' will be built in it's place.

At the Crossroads Market someone opened up a place that sells original movie posters. Guy has a fantastic collection ranging from 80s horror , modern superhero movies and up to more recent ones. Check it out next time you are down there.

One of my first jobs, as a teen, was here! Looking back, I’m shocked they didn’t close years ago, lol

So where does the truth lie with this development at the old CBC site in Hillhurst? Seems like the residents want to slow the process down while they get more information and questions around creosote contaminiation answered. They cite that with the new proposal for the site, and underground parking, there's more risk of airborne pollutants?
But 5 year groundwater and soil vapour monitoring by the province says there's not risk to public health.
Is this just Nimbyism disguised as environmental/health concerns?

Do they still not like the townhouse proposal for the site? Would they prefer 6-8 storey buildings instead?

They would prefer a park, ideally one that is gated to keep outsiders out.

not sure if it was recommended yet, but I went to Sound Room which is the new lounge collaboration between Calcutta Cricket Club and Ol Beautiful. I went with my audiophile nerd buddy and he had a boner the whole time. It appears they spent a lot of money on the acoustics and equipment. Really really cool place. Turntable and reels and thousands of old records.
Music was perfectly loud but not oppressive like everywhere else, just perfect sound design. Really cool place to jump in after work. In the basement of Calcutta Cricket Club. They have like 10 Ol Beautiful beers going and food made upstairs. I'm usually disappointed when I go out.
Cool branding, I imagine it will do well. Maybe its been open for a while I didn't know about it.

Yeah, I hang out there, too. It's great and Ole Beautiful has the best beer.

Crave Cupcakes announced they’re closing their original Kensington location after 20 years there. They’re opening a new cafe in Hillhurst

Hmm, I wonder if moving out of that spot is also due to the construction about to begin on that whole building as it becomes The Kenten?
Do you know where in Hillhurst they are moving to?

Did they sell all those units at the Kunten? My rich buddy was looking at buying a few units in there and they were extremely expensive.

It is 50% sold according to the gigantic banner on the building. I bet he could get 2 for 1 now.
