It seems like a lot of the teams we've been focused on, are those that are looking to move into playoff contention: Detroit, CBJ, Buffalo, etc. And I think there is a great fit with CBJ including due to relationships in place with ex-Flames and the right type of assets that they could offer. Detroit apparently is off the table, which is too bad.
But if Rasmus' #1 priority is winning a cup, perhaps we need to look at those teams:
Winnipeg: We assume is on his NTC, but perhaps not. I would be interested in a deal grounded in Perfetti.
Dallas: Often discussed, but would need to move cap
Toronto: Former GM of Rasmus, loves the player. Lacks the right type of assets to make a compelling offer
Kings: There is a fit here. Let's assume Gravikov leaves, they have a hole to fill. They don't have a high draft pick. They would probably offer a guy like Turcotte, but could you get a deal packaged around a 1st + Greentree?
Tampa: Still want to stay in contention. Don't have great assets. Would they flip Geekie?
Carolina: Another one that fits. And they have oodles of picks/prospects to deal. They have too many smaller skilled forwards so you are probably looking at a deal involving picks and a guy like Nadeau?

There’s probably a lot of incentive for Buffalo to bring in Rasmus to keep Dahlen happy. He’s been up and down on the organization since coming in. Makes sense on the non hockey side. Also allows them to move one of their other D for a star up front.

From a financial perspective, Buffalo is probably the team best situated (read: most desparate) to overpay Andersson today as well. Buffalo would probably pay him the most because they need to change the culture (and good point on keeping Dahlin happy).

Getting McQueen at #9 for Andersson would be incredible. I know he's got some serious risk but there's some serious reward there if he pans out.

I'd think not. Dahlin is their Captain. Would he wear an A? I'd expect so.

Not a bad take honestly, and if he's connected to Dahlin then perhaps it could be even more enticing.

And from a financial perspective, playing your UFA year in the east is a good idea.

Has Pittsburgh decided they are rebuilding? Does eating Erik Karlsson's contract get us Pickering? They would be able to take a run at Marner + Ehlers and replace Karlsson with Andersson.
CGY:
11th overall
Owen Pickering
Erik Karlsson
PIT:
Andersson

I think the rumours are Pittsburgh is in a rebuild mode. I don’t think they’re going to get rid of young prospects now. About time. I suspect Karlsson will be dealt at the draft or thereafter. It doesn’t seem like it’s a negative value contract anymore. Especially in an offseason where there aren’t many great free agents.

The first time I asked was because a poster asked if I had anything and I replied no, sorry because at that time this person had not heard anything on the Andersson front. I am not Andersson so I don't know what his mindset is behind waiving for the Sabres.

I hope you're right and can see Buffalo not being a quick no for Raz. They can offer a nice contract, they have Dahlin to pair with him, and they can potentially turn with the right mix.

They've shown no ability to turn things around and now seemingly even more of the good players want out.

Add Florida to the list (sounding like Ekblad leaves)

I understand that they are basically the Edmonton Oilers before McDavid - but culture is not a consistent thing IMO and can turn.
Kevyn Adams needs to go (and most likely on his last year). They have the dogs to put up a good fight if they can bring in some more leadership. They have the cap space.
I'm sure players talking to each other can turn optimistic with a couple key additions and some internal growth.

Issue is ownership interfering with GM decisions. I don’t think a new GM does much.

The Flames already have Honzek, they don't need a McQueen.
McQueen has so many red flags; injury prone, late birthday playing in the CHL, most of his points were against weak teams.

^ I was wondering who'd be odd man out for Vegas if they were chasing Makar... Could also indicate Pietrangelo won't be on LTIR for the whole season.
And I guess would mean Carolina doesn't want to be in the Marner sweepstakes?
