I’m sure he’ll get the automatic 2 year extension. Not sure how I feel about this as a Rockets fan but Jalen Green’s play in the playoffs was very concerning.

I hope Houston enjoys their second round exit next year. Durant should be enough to get them out of round one, but still nowhere near as competitive as the heavyweights out west. I can't see them beating even the Lakers or Warriors with full seasons of Doncic/LeBron and Curry/Butler. Then there's OKC, Denver... the Spurs and Mavs should be competitive next year. Can the Rockets compete for an NBA Championship with this roster?

This feels like a textbook neutral trade. I don't love it for either team, I don't hate it for either team, it's just sort of there. But even at 37 Durant is still a top 15 or so player in the league, so the overall acquisition cost from a Houston perspective is pretty reasonable, so I would give them the slight edge on this one.

It's really terrible for PHX. Booker-Beal-Green is just awful...and their next best two players are also SG/SF (Brooks and Allen)! It's really hard to see a Jalen Green trade out there, except maybe the Nets.

I'd say the move would be to sell Booker to get your picks back, except Houston basically has the next few. The swaps are so damn confusing...there really needs to be a flowchart simulator thing that lets you order the teams involved and shows you who gets which picks in a given scenario.

But Phoenix made their bed with poor decisions to this point, they needed to untangle the mess they've made and this is the start of that. Better than compounding it by trying to make their current situation work.

Anyway, is it me or did he go for a remarkably cheap price by NBA standards? 10th overall pick plus loads of second rounders isn't much. Because of his age I would be weary if I were the Raps too, but I'd have thought someone would offer 4 1sts+ other stuff.

Well the teams didn’t announce the trade and the draft is in 3 days. So this is really the only time to complete trades like this.

Definitely. Getting 10 OA back is better than nothing, and if they're going to buy out Beal then Green isn't the worst bet, especially paired with Brooks. But they still don't own any picks moving forward and have no credible size on their roster with no realistic way to fix that as they are still somehow $12M over the 2nd apron. What a mess.
