Flames are very much in on Peterka but there’s a handful of teams.
I don’t see CGY paying as much as some of the other teams, Buffalo not looking for strictly futures.
Maybe a swap with MIN for Rossi?
At some point, you'd think that trying to trade with Buffalo is just a waste of time for the Flames. After years of extensive talks trying to get their players - starting with Eichel and most recently to Cozens and now Paterka - just seems like we would know what Buffalo wants by now and if a deal isn't present early in negotiations, it's probably not going to happen.
Of course that's just the frustrated side of me talking. Of course we have to try.

Can’t say I disagree, but with multiple teams interested Buffalo would of course drive up the price and pit all the would be suitors against each other.
You know what I’ve tried my best to be respectful to you. You are a human being behind that user name and I’ve seen your posts in the off topic forum discussing you struggles.
That wasn’t a shot at you as I’ve seen Mapke Leaf fans celebrating he’s coming home.
If you can prove I’m Rhett a player I despise I’ll leave.
Ok, others have said that but I have no proof so I apologize. I just expect shots fired at me but if you are proposing we stay off each other's backs going forward I am more then fine with that. We might not agree on much but I really am sick of waging war with others on here.

As much as we all rag on McDavid, it would absolutely not be a shortlist of teams who look to acquire him.
It would be the bidding war of bidding wars whether they're talking trade or UFA signing if it takes that long.
Including Calgary for that matter to be honest. As much as some would hate to admit it if McDavid was actually available we should be all over it. (it feels dirty to say that but it's still true)
He'll have his pick of where to go, teams will make room if they need to.
Yep, if McDavid goes to free agency, every team in the league with cap space and some without, will be making a pitch to his agent. Including the Flames.
No matter how unlikely it is, almost every team will have the doors open and the Brinks truck rolled up.

Respect to both of you for posting these comments. This can be fun!

I wouldn't be upset if we managed to land Peterka but I would be concerned that we would be using up the trade chips we need to add to our C depth and fill that #1C position.
Also, I would be pretty annoyed if we send Zary to Buffalo for Peterka after we didn't send Zary to Buffalo to get Cozens.

I wouldn’t mind a mostly boring summer. Flames are on the right track and a lot of the young guys are developing nicely. I think you keep Zary and friends and take another run. Trade Andersson and Coleman at the deadline for futures maybe. See what happens.

Ilya Solovyov is spending his summer in Belarus. He participated as an instructor in the Raubichi camp for kids. Before the quick tidbid they mentioned that Solo actually broke 4 panes of glass while playing in Raubichi the one year, which I find oddly impressive.
Here's a quick quote from him regrading next season:

Nothing earth shuttering, but I really hope either he or Kuzy takes that 3LD spot with the Flames, while both Parekh and Brz push on the right side.

As a side note,CSKA Moscow, the same team that Okhotyuk signed with, extended its rights to Yan Kuznetsov about a month back. I'm guessing they wish things don't work out for him in NA, and he returns to the KHL.

Mangiapane is almost certainly going to the Leafs. I wonder if Toronto is going to keep the cap sheet clean to take a run at McDavid next year? Maybe offer Tavares a 1 year extension at the same money he makes today?
For that offer Tavares should just walk. He'd be crazy to accept that kind of lowball offer. He's already played for his "boyhood dream" team for much of his career. He could probably find a team just as competitive for millions more. A near PPG center should be worth 7-8 million, even at his age. Stamkos is a year older and just received 4x8. Tavares should get around that number.

It would go a long way to solidifying our defence if one of solo or kuz could really cement themselves as a regular in the line up this year.

With Bennett likely staying in Florida, I don't see who the leafs acquire that makes them better than they were last year. People give Marner crap, but he was a huge part of that team.
Seems like there's a decent change that two 80+ point players, Tavares and Duchene, may make less money than Toews, who has been out of the league for 2 years and was washed up in his most reason season.
