Jeannot has been terrible since he left Nashville. Probably the injuries. Not sure what the fascination with him is.

I mean if they do lose a piece or two from the bottom 6 Jeannot would look pretty good in Florida I’m sure.

Probably the entire draft class TBay traded for him all those moons ago; he never even came close to living up to that cost but it’s likely a main reason why there is still some fascination around the player. I really do think he’d look right at home in Florida though.

Think we could get Oilers 2027 1st by taking Kane off their hands? Then obviously buy him out the same day. Would be 2.4M next season and 1.3M the season after.

And I know, he has a no trade clause blah blah blah. I still think you have to at least ask him to waive. He is worth alot today and in a year or 2 is going to have negative value. He might be worth a 1st today, and in a couple years you would probably need to include a 1st to get rid of him.

This is the absolute best time to trade an aging player. This is also another reason why you shouldn't give no trade clauses to retirement contracts. Save those for players like Parekh and Wolf.
You don’t give no trade clauses. They are part of the negotiation and often big parts.
The reason you don’t do this is if the player has been clear they have no interest in going, asking him to waive could be insulting and harm the relationship. So where that ends up is the player says fine I’ll go but I’ll decide where…thereby limiting the trade market severely. Or you keep him but have an unhappy player still signed for a number of years

Again if you know he doesn’t want to go there is no need to ask
This isn’t fantasy hockey. These are real people

Never help the Oilers.

It hardly helps them as they will have 1.9M to sign 4 players after ######bombs contract.

That gives them 7M to sign 4 terrible players. None of which would likely be better than Kane anyway.

It certainly helps the Flames. That 1st in 2027 could be huge.

Let them buy out Kane. It was their mistake. Never help the Oilers.

What about Nadeau + 1st for Rasmus.

Nadeau isn't a center but a 0.5G/GP in his rookie AHL year. Fast and can score. Feels like their might be something there.

If they were smart they would buy out Kane. But they aren't very smart. Take advantage.

Zero interest in having Evander Kane play for the Flames. Hope they never let that happen.

That's probably the kind of deal that would work for both teams. Or Forsmark to build out the LD prospect pool. Blake would be a better get, but I doubt CAR would include him after he popped this year.

I am not going to piss him off and ask him to waive his NMC when he deserves it. If we are bad after the 25/26 season then you'll get your wish, because he then only has a 13 team NTC.
Players who play his style decline fast. I'm just going based off history. Most players decline once they get into their mid 30s, especially ones who play a physical brand of hockey.

One of the insiders here said we didn't ask him to waive at the deadline. So I don't know why people freak out at the possibility of asking him. But if we did ask since then and he said no, then fine.

I know people preach loyalty but this isn't a retirement home. We need to make tough decisions that sometimes a player might not like. Like when Florida traded Huberdeau and upset him. Yet, they are now seen as the most successfully run front office in the league.

You have to take the emotion out of it. We have a hockey team to run.

Nobody wants that. The proposal was to obtain a first from Edmonton in the deal then buy him out the same day.
