Personally, I’d rather have 16 playoffs teams bidding on him over 31 non-playoff teams (at this moment.) I think the returns would be higher due to the premium demand.
Didn’t really work with Hanifin. I don’t think his value changes much by the deadline.

If he is getting anything more than $6.5/per, that team is going to have total regrets.

Trade him to an Eastern Conference team for the most draft picks and prospects…

I hope the trade happens after the draft, but before the start of the season. Gives Conroy all the time to shop him around, and the 2026 draft is better. I would expect a top 10 protected 2026 first round pick to be part of that equation. Maybe the 2026 gets pushed into an unprotected 2027 pick. Landon Dupont, come on down!

Seriously, Andersson has been a pleasure to watch and follow as a Flames' fan. I have enjoyed watching him play with his skill as well as with that swagger. Teams need players with swagger. I always crack up thinking about him and Wilson last season. He was a fantastic Flame and represented Calgary well. I know wherever he ends up, I will continue cheering for him. Hope he wins a cup sooner than later!

Love Ras, but glad this (looks likes it anyways) is happening. Best for the franchise going forward.

Do not wait until the deadline. Risk of injury is way too way to gamble. If it's going to happen, rip the Band Aid off and trade him in the next week or two.

Would love to see Ekblad sign very soon with Florida to take him off the table for teams and increase the value of Raz.

The twitter car dealership guy seems to think he's a Flames target though

I used to work with a cousin of Ekblad a few years back.
I just reached out and asked what the likely hood would be for him going to July 1 and he said “Aaron and Bill are working to keep him in Florida as we speak”

So take that FWIW.
I previously heard he wouldn’t be back but it sounds like they’re trying to 3peat in Florida.

I love that Conny isn’t afraid to trade within the conference or division. Take the best deal period, regardless of team (except Edmonton).

As for comments about people wanting a 2026 pick, that’s all well and good, but teams might me leery about trading that pick as it’s a better draft (at least it looks like that right now). And good chance it would be a late pick anyhow if he goes to a contender. Let’s get the pick now, get someone in the system and develop them properly.

I think the trade only happens at the draft because a team offers Conroy the one thing he cannot refuse. Otherwise it makes sense for the Flames to wait for July 1st and see how the free agent frenzy can pump up the price on Andersson.

Being able to trade him for a tiny cap hit for 1 year AND a contract extension would make him desirable for any team looking to make noise in the playoffs for the next ~6 years.

Ekblad signing an extension in the next week would be amazing. The UFA pool for RD would be down to Fabbro, Ceci, Schmidt, Perbix...

Probably best for Florida to strike with all 3 guys while they are still drunk

It's really unlikely to roll into the season, but I like this tactic for the Flames, as they very much can still go into the season with a guy that's motivated and likely to have a big year as he'll be looking to get paid.

His value is probably highest from now to end of July, but it'll probably stay pretty high up to the deadline.

The only concern I have if it drags into the season is that it'll be hard for Conroy to trade him if the Flames are in a playoff position, but that's a pretty small concern that it takes that long.

Andersson is like Lindholm, he needs a partner that is better than him to produce.

I am hoping Ekblad signs soon too, and I think he will. I believe Ekblad said something about wanting to stay there 'no matter what' even before the Panthers won the cup. I bet they find a way.

As for the contract extension when it comes to Andersson, Calgary can give teams permission to talk to him once they get a deal done. They can agree to terms, and then sign it a week or two later. That shouldn't be a hold-up.

I doubt the perceived increase in talent for the 2026 draft will be an issue. I don't think it is going to be seen similarly to the 2023 draft. As well, maybe a team or two does shy away over a perceived increase in quality, but some will still fancy themselves as a great team, and some will falter. Hopefully Andersson goes to a team that has a bit of a letdown season, or some random bad luck that year. I don't the 1st this year will be anywhere close to a top 10 pick, so I would rather roll the dice for next year, and I think there would be a long list of suitors willing to trade their 1st.

If he has any ambition, he'll leave. Once again, we are a developmental team for the big hockey clubs. We'll probably trade him for picks, develop those picks, then trade those players for more picks and do it all over again.

The Mammoth are not trading Tij Iginla. Not anytime in the near future anyhow.
