Injuries are sadly a part of the game. There’s a risk of injury for every single player every season. Under that logic we should trade Zary instead of signing him.

My point is that Ras is healthy right now. If your plan is to trade him, and I believe it is, you don't risk taking him into the season where he could suffer a season ending injury etc. His value may be the same now vs at the deadline but there are 31 other teams in play now vs 16 at the deadline. I think they get a better return now too.

Regardless of the return?

Needs to be done before season

I get why they would be saying they could wait till the deadline but lets hope that’s not the case.

Part of a package to move into the top 5 at the draft?

That would be a gross return, every team has a Minton type prospect. He is not a top 6 C and the Flames should be using Rasmus as a way to get one.

Andersson is an entertaining personality but it's probably best for the future of the team to move on.

Looks like they will part ways, but I don't think it needs to happen prior to/at the draft. Great if the return is good, but getting assets/2026 draft picks is fine.

I'm calling San Jose. For 30 and Philip Bystedt.

Pick 30 would be meh, might as well wait until the deadline for that type of return IMO.

I still see a good fit with Columbus in an Andersson trade - especially after the rumour today that they are open for business. Their pick (14th overall) is in a spot that is not so valuable that it’s too much for a player like Andersson and they can afford that move. Plus they can afford to trade a young player or prospect for someone like Andersson.

Sillinger is probably the best fit for the flames in an Andersson trade. They were high on him in his draft year (ended up taking Coronato after Sillinger was picked). Flames would likely have to add to the deal if they were to get both 14th overall and Sillinger.

Pick 30s fine if it means you package 18 & 30/32 to move up.

Bystedt would be a nice add

I have thought about Columbus but they gave Severson that massive deal and Werenski is a right shot as well?

Would Boston move the 7th to bring him in? Seems like a move that organization could make, and history with Lindholm and Big Z.

I believe fan expectations are too lofty if they believe that there's much better out there. Aim low and be pleasantly surprised if there's more , is the way I'm going to approach this trade.

I'd honestly take the Oilers pick in 2026 from them before I'd take the Dallas pick.

If they are willing to retain 50% on him then their is no reason the return at the Draft shouldn't be better than what they'd be able to get at the deadline.

And you'd avoid the risk of injury or anything else that could lower his value.

Maybe that's a possibility.

Maybe my trade idea is still too rich when they do trade Rasmus.

Lots of possibilities to consider.
