McDavid is getting max cap and max term.

The only question is where.

He's sacrificed enough living in the NHL hinterlands.

Max term is only available in Edmonton barring a sign and trade, which will never happen. Which means he will turn down money to leave, assuming max cap is true.

That part told me he's gone.
You can see he's trying to save face with Edmonton, but his true feelings are it's not going to happen there and he'll do what's best for him & his family.

I have a gut feeling that he's going to end up on the Rangers. They have a great goalie, solid defense and emerging prospects. He'll embrace playing in a big market with some anonymity and reduced pressure to be the "savior".

I am pretty useless with technology, but is there any way someone could make a compilation video of Bouchard fishing the puck out of his own net? Gotta think there is about 15-20 minutes of footage there and it would be nice to reveal after they sign him for 8 years.

You don't F around with that kind of money.
I think it would be insane.

Guaranteed $128M (8x16)
vs
Guaranteed $32M (2x16) +
Possible $132M (8x16.5)

He could get injured or sick and miss out on $96 MILLION. No one in their right mind takes $164M possible dollars instead of a guaranteed $128M. It's not even just a career ending injury. He could get ill like Toews, cancer like Mario, Blood clots, heart conditions - He could lose part of his heel like Karlsson in those 2 years. The risk v reward isn't even close imo.

All the numbers I used are 14% of the cap, which is where he is now and where I think teams will keep it, to try and be competitive. He's McDavid but I don't think any team is going to sign him much higher than that because they'll never have a chance at winning.

In addition, the first scenario covers 8 years and the second covers 10. There is no reason he couldn't sign another contract after the 8 years are up. He'd be 37. Look at what Crosby is doing at 37. So, you'd have to add that on to the first scenario to make them equivalent comparables.

I can't imagine he'd sign for less than 8 years with the Oilers or 7 with anyone else. There is too much risk.

I don't really disagree, but Matthews just did it, so it could happen. does seem Risky leaving 100+ mil on the table.

There was a lot of disagreeing with McLennan in that episode. He came across as a bit of an Oilers fanboy.

Walman got walked on some crucial goals/plays. Yet pundits say great things about him.

That Oiler effect/aberration is special. The same players would not be looked at the same way on other clubs.

He also seriously suggested that depending on the outcome of the HC trial, the Oilers should consider Carter Hart as a goalie option.

I'm not kidding.

It's not a question of "if" but "when".

Noodles also referred to Danielle Smith as a 'rockstar' a few months ago.

Might be time for BB and the club in general to cut ties... I know it will be hard, I mean the guy did play a whopping >60 games for the Flaming C.

For me, it was less that and more that Noodles never addressed Pinder’s argument about the Cap. I wanted to hear more about those details and then what it would take for the Oilers to free space.

I think Pinder’s right.

Gimme a glass of wine or a beer, and I don't think it's a matter of when they sign one of those players, but how many.
