You just have to lock up a Trent Frederic when you have one.

I’ve thought this ever since they started saying Tre would be after him.
Also considering under Tre’s watch, they strip Leafs pyjamas boy Tavares of the C and give it to Matthews, who then underperforms
Also he played with Marner at 4 nations, and if he is friends with him, can see how Marner enjoyed his treatment there, freshly run out of town by the Fahd and media
Ugly place to play, why bother with that when you have had a taste of a franchise with success in recent times (or even post expansion)
The stress wouldn’t be worth the upside

Nope.
He just took a shot at the 2 easiest to confirm won’t be back.

With the draft coming up next… I’m thinking the only teams that really make sense as far as trade partners for Andersson that have a pick higher than the flames this year are Detroit (picking 13th overall) and Columbus (picking 14th overall). Both have deep prospect pools that can afford to trade this years pick plus a decent prospect. Both are trying to get better now and both could use a top four defenseman. There’s also a decent chance Andersson might not have those teams (or at least one of them) on his no trade list. Something like this maybe:
Trade A)
To Detroit: Andersson (50% retained for next season and extended) + 18th overall
To Calgary: Danielson + 13th overall
Trade B)
To Columbus: Andersson (50% retained for next season and extended) + 32nd overall
To Calgary: Sillinger + 14th overall

Those kinds of players will only get you lower picks. Like, I've been thinking for a while that SJ would move Bystedt and Dallas's 1st which is what 29 now for Rasmus. And I figured I was on the higher end of the spectrum.

I think there are many Flames fans who will be disappointed with the return in any Andersson trade.

Expectation should be similar to last 3 D traded, Carlo, Jones and Walmon. All got a 1st of some sort and typically a young player.
Now if flames take a later first and bundle that with Andersson that could change things too.
One team that strikes me as an aggressive retool and do what they can (possible overpay in transactions to accomplish this) is NYR.

Which is very unlikely given the teams interested have picks higher than us. La, StL, wash, SJ (31st pick), Car.
Agree with sandman. There could be some disappointed fans. Think we will do little better than Hanifin but expecting something along the lines with what Toronto gave up for Carlo (1st plus B prospect).

Ive been saying this for 6 months. The expectations are totally out of line, I'm not even sure we can get a first for him alone at this point. The retention isn't worth very much. Have to hope someone was really impressed by the captaincy at the wc.

Seems 95%+ of teams are in buying mode, seems 10-12+ teams are interested in Andersson... also seems like most of the fanbase always expects to be disappointed in the trade returns.
In Conroy I trust... (unless he re-signs Rasmus then kmn)

I was trying to piece together next years Flames lineup based on capfriendly contract statuses
Not an easy process as there are way too many 2nd and 3rd line forwards who probably shouldn’t be on the 4th line
Coleman
Sharangovich
Farabee
Zary
Klapka
Pospisil
I have a feeling one or two will be moved. My guesses would be Coleman or Sharangovich.
Obvious lack of centers. Especially with Backlund probably being close to done.
There’s a mess on D if Andersson is in fact dealt. Big void of experienced D.
Signing Vladar would make a lot of sense to me. But like Andersson my gut feel is that he’s also gone.
It just feels like some moves are coming this offseason. Mainly because the roster makeup makes zero sense. It’s a big melting pot of similar players with some big gaps.

Conroy comments still make me believe he’s tanking. No backup wants to limits Wolf starts. Put in more young players. Say goodbye to Andersson. Won’t add bodies for the sake of making a move. So it’s either big names or stay the course and keep moving guys out.

He's been doing the same thing this whole time and he's also been transparent about it the whole time.
He's not making short term decisions to win now, but also not going scorched earth and embracing a losing mentality. He's trying to manage assets in a way to build a strong base of picks and young players without moving everything out all at once.
Even with Frost and Farabee he brought in 2 25 year olds that weren't meant to be short term assets, and bought low on them.
