With developers, members of council, government officials and more? It's no different than what is happening with AHS and UCP official contracts to the tune of a billion. People get their nice kickbacks and envelopes and more looked after.

What do you mean what benefit?? Financial benefits. What do you think corruption and payoffs are for? We all know it happens in government's and contracts everywhere. It's when it's relentless and so in your face and your getting lied to that makes it even more infuriating.
It happens in very large degrees like it does in poor countries, we just have the economy to kinda hide it.

It's all in front of us if we are being open and honest about it. Did you, me, wealthy friends or family get a chance to build and partake in the new event center that is publicly owned? Why do the Flames ownership get first right of refusal on commercial development space? Why are they able to actually charge a ticket tax on a building they don't own, are you able to do that at other city properties?
Pay attention to how many marque properties this company has and is able to bypass previously approved plans with an almost 100% success rate when it comes to amendments. X was sold to a community years ago but they will end up with Y as an approved development.
This game is played by countless companies and developers. Who do you think officials are going to shake down? Old ladies in Marda Loop? That who the developers shake down for corner lots cause they know most of the children with the inheritance probably will be itching for their share $700k.
After the developer pays that much for a teardown, they need to maximize size and units so they pay off to skirt the rules for a lot short by 2-3 feet. After building usually some visually nice units but horrible quality, the numbered company goes belly up so your average Joe can't come after them.
Literally textbook, just as the same playbook on getting taxpayers to fund arenas

The RFP for the event centre was Competitive - Open bid, so yes you did have a change to build and partake. Why didn't you submit a proposal?

If you have an agreement with the city on a property you manage in which the city demands a ticket tax you to meet repayment schedules, yes you can do that.
Your entire premise for this corruption is that the City and CSEC didn’t seriously consider you or your friends for construction contracts?
Corruption is corruption. End of story. Doesn't matter if it's the AG who says the feds pay out billions in contracts for little or no work.
The same thing with local property development which is the topic being discussed. Off topic.........
How does a company without even a website, incorporated weeks before an announcement decide to make a $ 120 million investment into "publicly funded" AB healthcare? Keep in mind current and former MLA's are investors and this company has ties to the US in Florida. Sadly they found their poster boy/boys up in Edmonton
You would think that one of the newest cancer centers in North America (Calgary Cancer Center) would have been designed with the necessary treatment faults for this new type of treatment in a publicly run, publicly funded system?? Insider Tip: It was and they are collecting dust cause it's hard to pull off the fraud to the tune of hundreds of millions in a hospital setting.
Better to get a partnership, some poster boys, some investors and a never ending parade of sick clients from all over Canada sent to your facility. The beauty part is that you get to bill the taxpayers of AB non stop.
Nothing wrong with having private options in AB but let's not pretend that a lot of things don't stink when it's SOOOOOOO OBVIOUS what is happening.
I think somehow Curves surrounds themselves with such dishonest and corrupt people that the concept of people acting with integrity seems completely unrelatable.

Everyone he knows seems to be a different kind of low brow. Corrupt, wasteful, incompetent men. Easy duped, helpless women. And one man stand above the fringe. The ultimate saviour with 200 euro in his wallet just in case.
Well you see, they're building lots of things in Marda Loop so the obvious conclusion is that it's corruption. We don't need evidence because nothing gets built without corruption. Look at the Stampede grounds even though we're talking about Marda Loop, don't you see it!!?
Two quick Google searches immediately came up with the answers. Full project scope page and articles detailing that the end date got pushed back a year.
But sure, corruption and hiding the facts, that's clearly what happened here.
