For virtually all domestic matters, their various media outlets have been divided for the last 10+ years. It's a trip to see CNN, Fox News and MSNBC all presenting their cases for the US supporting the likely upcoming invasion.
Iran would be impossible to invade and occupy. It would be Afghanistan x 100.
It's a developed country with almost 90 million people and mountainous terrain. It would be a meat grinder for any country that tries.
The war would be missiles, bombs, and drones.
Yes but it's pretty clear Netenyahu's/Trump's goal here is regime change. I don't see how this whole thing doesn't end in disaster, much like Iraq did.

I think they are going to try to bully them until there is some kind of coup or revolution. The CIA and Mossad probably have people in the inside already. There are monarchist groups in Iran that tend to be pro-Western. The supporters of the Republic out number them, but have also become less unified in recent years with more people becoming less religious and divides between federalists and centralists. I think the ingredients are there to orchestrate something and it's not like revolutions have never happened there before. It might not work of course, but I would bet that is what they are going to try.

I'm not saying they deserve to have nukes. I do think this whole "they want nukes so they can destroy the West and Israel" is Western propaganda. They want nukes because they're surrounded by countries who want to enact a regime change and nukes are their only deterrent.
Iran’s regime obviously want nukes as a deterrent. But it’s not Western propaganda that they want to destroy Israel.

Israel should be wiped off map, says Iran's president
Iran's new president created a sense of outrage in the west yesterday by describing Israel as a "disgraceful blot" that should be "wiped off the face of the earth".
This was 20 years ago. So nothing to do with events of the last 5 years.
It wasn’t the only time the threat has been issued.

Iranian general threatens to 'annihilate' Israel
Iran's military head said Saturday that forces are preparing to "annihilate" Israel's Zionist regime within 25 years after recent threats between the foes.
When a regime run by religious fanatics has repeatedly threatened to wipe a country off the map and annihilate it, and that regime pursues a nuclear weapons program, it’s not propaganda to acknowledge that they may actually mean it.

Gaza will be entirely destroyed, Israeli minister says
Israel’s Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu was suspended indefinitely after he said in an interview that dropping a nuclear bomb on the Gaza Strip was “one of the possibilities,” the government announced on Sunday.

Well if the Middle East is that tense maybe we just need to carpet-bomb them with masseurs? Maybe some bartenders that make killer mojitos? Just lighten the mood a little.

The demented criminal clown who has no business being in office thinks he owns the USA.
I mean, he kinda does. He can say and do whatever he wants, break any laws he wants, profiteer from the presidency directly against the constitution, and never face any serious consequence. He has made the entire republican party his bitch, the democrats are too meek to pose any serious resistance, and the supreme court is in his pocket. He is the single most powerful person the country has seen in the last century, maybe ever
G7 Leaders statement on recent developments between Iran and Israel
Quote:
We, the leaders of the G7, reiterate our commitment to peace and stability in the Middle East.
In this context, we affirm that Israel has a right to defend itself. We reiterate our support for the security of Israel.
We also affirm the importance of the protection of civilians.
Iran is the principal source of regional instability and terror.
We have been consistently clear that Iran can never have a nuclear weapon.
We urge that the resolution of the Iranian crisis leads to a broader de-escalation of hostilities in the Middle East, including a ceasefire in Gaza.
We will remain vigilant to the implications for international energy markets and stand ready to coordinate, including with like-minded partners, to safeguard market stability.
No nukes for Iran. Like I said earlier, I believe that Iran having nukes would lead to more civilian casualties in the region.
The scary thing is when he says "nobody knows what I'm going to do" he is including himself in that "nobody". It's like having a toddler in charge of a nuclear arsennal.

100%. Unless people want another gas station with nukes terrorist regime mirroring russia, with nukes on hard ready to blackmail their way to the big boy table and weasel their way into world politics, the choice needs to be made whether to act accordingly now, or kick the can down the road and deal with it later.
FYI - Kicking the can down the road never works as intended. Iran nukes up, so does everyone else.

Things have been relatively quiet for the past 24 hours considering all of the events in the days prior. I had thought there may have been some back channel negotiations going on with some reports stating that Trumps early return to Washington was for last ditch negotiations. Very little verifiable info on what is taking place behind the scenes. The NY Times is reporting that US diplomats are leaving Israel which could be a bad sign that this is about to continue to escalate, maybe just precautionary I am not sure. Feels like we are sitting on a powder keg currently.
