the way the Panthers handled that game 4 collapse is just so impressive. That could absolutely break a team, yet they turned the page and completely dominated them for the next 120 minutes. Just such a team effort, too ... people have been talking about Bennett or Marchand for the Conn Smythe, but then you also have Reinhart scoring a hattrick in game 6, Chucky being Chucky, Barkov being an outstanding leader, Luostarinen being a playoff beast and so, so many more.
Basically, a deep and complete team smothered a two pony show ... just the way it should be. Those West teams should really a) hang their heads in shame (looking at you specifically, Dallas) and b) take notes. We needed Florida to save us from hell twice now, and that's not how it should be.
This. We all saw how LA handled their game 3 and 4 collapses, by no showing games 5 and 6.

That's all fun and good fanfiction but I'm pretty sure he's going to sign pretty soon after July 1. Really hope not but for some reason he genuinely seems to like it up there. Which is wild — nobody is forcing you to stick around, Connor.
I am surprised the Oilers media isn't at least talking about it more.
I have no idea what will happen. I think if all he ever wanted was to play for the Leafs and can't wait to sign there, he wouldn't have given the Oilers any UFA years in his last contract. I think maybe he and his wife like being the big fish in a small pond. Not that he wouldn't be famous in Toronto, but he'd be sharing the spotlight more with other celebrities and sports teams and when you need to be worshipped, it's probably less fun that way.
If I were to bet, I think he sees how the season goes before re-signing. Part of me thinks it would be worse for the Oilers if he does because his cap hit will make it really hard to build a deep team, but the Oilers tears if he bailed would be so worth it too,

Can you show me where I did that? Also, I was right. Confirmed by multiple sources. Gaudreau was going to sign with Calgary until a last minute discussion and change of heart. I never once trashed and trashed Meredith Gaudreau, I said she had a big part in his decision to leave, that's it. Saying something so utterly classless like that after what happened should be a sin bin for you but probably not huh? Absolutely disgusting.
What’s utterly classless is YOU. They are/were married. You make decisions WITH that person you married. Just cause you’re still butthurt that some guy you cheer for signed with another team after he 100% fulfilled his contract /obligations to the team you so happened to cheer for does not give you the right to continually drag his now widow into the dirt repeatedly. “I was right”.
Stop being an immature imbecile.
Grow Up.

Am I the only one who believes this is not an actual Oliers fan? This is for sure a non Oliers fan who invested heavily in two jersey's in hopes he'd get the opportunity to do exactly what he did.

Amazing. I think I've posted that last bit before on CP, more or less. Tkachuk sees what we see and doesn't sugar coat it. I love that.
One guy shouldn't play half of the game including whole powerplays. It's a team game, donkeys! And wearing him down with too much ice time is part of what did them in.

100%. Particularly since it wasn't even in a clinching game.
Totally contrived.

Woke up this morning with an extra PEP in my STEP! Life is good and the world is right!
Also, biggest game of his life and McDavid ends with 0 points and a -4? Plays all the minutes in the finals and finishes with a total of 7 points and -7? Yet, we have Friedman saying he'd give 97 his 3rd place vote for Conn Smythe after Marchand and Bennett. We have other media guys STILL unwilling to call it like it is. The "best player in the world" was not the best player in the playoffs, the finals or even the one game that mattered the most! He guaranteed a win and he didn't get a point! He wasn't nearly good enough as their captain and leader and it's time people stopped giving him passes for never bringing the results and assuming next time, he'll do it.

Oilers can't play McDavid this season without an extension IMO...we are gonna find out soon if he is staying or going.
The risk of going into the season with him without an extension is insane. If its truely only Toronto they won't even get the big return
They also can't trade him after just going to the finals. We will find out if he signs in Edmonton or not this summer. If he hasn't signed before the season starts, then things may get interesting in Edmonton. Of course, he could always just force a trade after he signs anyways.
