Since I can't pick up a signal for X92.9 on my analog clock in the morning, I'm forced to tune it to CJAY for my dose of 'rock / alternative' when I wake up.
The other morning I woke up to them singing a song about men's penises. How refreshing. That's definitely what I look forward to in the morning.

A very long time...AM 106 became Mix 1060, which played rock-alternative during the mid-90s grunge boom; then they changed format in late 1995, to play "standards"; now, they're "Classic Country".

I.HATE.CJAY.
But I really like the 80s stuff mixed into the loop on JACK. And I like EAGLE.
I'm a surfer. I've got eagle, jack, x, fuel, country and vibe on my FM1, and I pretty much go back and forth. Every once in awhile, I switch to FM2 and scope rock, cjay, cjsw, 103.1 (whatever the hell it's called) and 93.something (some classical station).
Without fail, cjay is either playing 54-40, or one of those commercials with that loser with the half flamer - half tough guy voice.
Can they please hire a new person to do their ads? That same effing guy with that annoying voice has been doing their ads since I liked that crap station in frickin high school.
I wish cjay would cease to exist. And take forbes with them. (no, I won't capitalize his name.)

That's funny... I too can't seem to pick up 92.9 most of the time at my house in bridgeland, yet I was driving back from Medicine Hat on sunday and I was able to pick it up in the car just before Brooks...

Y'all that listen to the radio: you don't get enough advertising in other parts of your life that you need more in your car or at work?
I'm trying to get my house and car to be advertisement free. No print media, no TV, no radio. Just the internet .

X92.9 for their incessant playing of Tool and Alexisonfire, and is infinitely better than CJAY by a wide margin. I also would recommend CBC 102.1 for easy listening on the weekends, the Vinyl Cafe is a great program on that station.

I really like X92.9's "Ongoing History of Rock" - you get a little info with your tunes. Otherwise, I agree, they play too much of the same, and I like too little of it to tune in.
Most of the time, though, I throw in a CD or two for my morning and evening commute.
As for AM106, you'd be appalled by what they're playing these days.

Totally love that. The other day they gave the history on American Woman. It was not really what I thought it would be, but very interesting nonetheless. And the coolest thing about it was that recently, I had pledged to go home 'one of these days' and google the history on that song.
Now, if they could only clear up the mystery surrounding In The Air Tonight. Oh wait, they did that too!

Seems no matter what station i happen to hear (usually the guys from work listen to x92.9) and because i can't listen to my XM 100% of the time, its so annoying. They always play the stupid white stripes song where it sounds like he just starts rubbing his doodle on the guitar and makes some noise... followed by 56 minutes of commercials, with a random soliloquy about parking tickets. Eitherway, Cjay has to be the worst of the bunch.

See thread: Things you're glad you bought.
Zen Vision M. Add into that a $28 000 AUX input for my car stereo (with a Mazda 3 Sport GT as a free gift) and you've got music. Radio is for sports-talk. Fan 960.

Vibe is probably the sorriest excuse for a radio station on the planet.
I really don't see why there's even DJ's - the entire station is about 10 songs on constant repeat all day long. I really like their "request" hour where people actually bother to call and request songs they'll hear in a maximum of 60 minutes anyways.

As many have mentioned, CJ has been dropped from my first 6 selections on the stereo. Jack, Fuel, X92.9, 100.9, 107, and 95.9 (yes I have light 96 ahead of CJ.)
Suprised 4x4 mentioned an overflow of 54 40, I would love that. For me it's CJ's Aerosmith lovefest that does it for me. When they are not playing Aerosmith it's Colin James! Ugh.
